    What Drives After-Hours Trading?

Buying and selling drives price movement. Figure out what's causing the preponderance of one over the other and you'll know which one to do :) At 4 PM, the B/A spread for most 3 letter stocks and inactive NAZ stocks widens. Here's an extreme example. SNS closed at $343.43 which was the...

book --> get rich with options 4th edition

Allexander Elder. Who better to write about the psychology of trading than a psychiatrist? :) As others mentioned, options are far more versatile than stocks but they are also far more complicated. In return for the advantages, you also get time decay and a lower delta so essentially, you...

    Using straddels as protection

The short answer is that the slingshot hedge has a larger drawdown at higher IV, all other things being equal. Why the IV is higher is immaterial. Ummm, any chance you have a phone number for that "house" ?? :)

Any recommended book for day trading beginner?

Go to the library. Read everything you can get your hands on. When it starts to make sense and you get an idea of what you want to trade (stocks, options, futures, insults on ET) then look through the stores or web sites that have trading books. When you have an idea of what you're looking at...

Rare arbitrage profit from call vs put prices: explain why not being taken?

If I may, I'd like to ask one of the adults here, what is LocateStock? I trade with IB and often carry a lot of short stock, at least a lot for me. Is LocateStock anything that I could, would, should use? Thx

Rare arbitrage profit from call vs put prices: explain why not being taken?

At this point, you should be mortgaging everything you have and arbing all the CTIC that you can eat. And who cares why and what institutional traders are doing with CTIC. It's not going to add a penny to your account value.

Rare arbitrage profit from call vs put prices: explain why not being taken?

Seemingly couldn't or shouldn't? You could save everyone (including yourself) a lot of time if you check the borrow rate with IB. You might find that CTIC and a lot of other stocks have significantly greater borrow rates than 1/2 a cent per share.

Rare arbitrage profit from call vs put prices: explain why not being taken?

Incorrect. Availability to borrow/short does not mean no borrow fee.

IB - Straighten out your f'in Bookkeeping!

Have you considered the possibility that the problem is TurboTax or your usage of it? I use Tradelog with IB. I haven't done 2009. For 2008, I traded over 2 million shares and did a daily Sched D in a spreadsheet as well. At the end of the year, one of them was off by a total of $4 or so...

Looking for broker suggestions who doesn't take over order flow

I'm a simple kinda guy. I don't know what IB does or who the counter parties are or what they do or what IB does with Timberhill. If I offer to buy a penny over best bid and my bid holds, I'm j ust that first in line. No advantage. Just best bid until someone goes a penny higher than me.

Rare arbitrage profit from call vs put prices: explain why not being taken?

Forced buy in occurs when lender of shares wants to sell them and none are available to borrow. How you gonna predict that?
