What is your criteria for selling a covered call or a put?

LOL. The OP's question was usage of the Greeks in determining when to sell covered call not how to be a better options trader. I'm open to suggestions as to how the Greeks can improve one's covered call timing. Got any for me?

What is your criteria for selling a covered call or a put?

The Greeks are derivative calculations which tell you how much an option's price will change as the pricing components change (passage of time, change in volatility, change in UL price, etc.). That's all fine and dandy if you want to monitor your position but it's not going to help you a whit...

What is your criteria for selling a covered call or a put?

Selling an over priced option for a big profit? (scratching head) ...put the counter party at a much bigger disadvantage? You're the one at a disadvantage since you own the stock in a CC whose risk/reward ratio is lousy You know what the focus of a CC position is? It's the timing...

What is your criteria for selling a covered call or a put?

Why would you need the Greeks to determine the viability of a covered call sale (or equiv NP)? It's a pretty straightforward trade with clear P&L.

    Pairs trading with options

I'm confused on two accounts. Are you buying or selling the options? And if you're putting the trade on as delta neutral then why are you looking elsewhere? And even w/o knowing what you want to do, I'd suggest that you test your strategy on historical data. Let performance indicate viability.

    Noob question about options?

An advantage of deep ITM options is less risk in the event of an underlying collapse. But you're still going to get clobbered by the initial drop since the delta is 1. Another adv. is leverage (2 deep ITMs is roughly equivalent to margining the stock). Disadvantage is aforementioned wide...
