    You can only execute option orders during regular trading hours. If that news were to occur during regular trading hours, you could only profit from add'l down move that occurred after you executed your order (let's not get caught up in IV change, etc.).

    D is the diagonal distance to X2,Y2. To determine the coordinates of X2,Y2 you'd have to construct a right triangle (D would be the hypotenuse), use the Pythagoean theorem to solve for the side and add that value to X1,Y1 The real question is, should you go long or short D? :)
