    How to skin a synthetic?

As you noted, the right move depends on your expectations for XYZ. Given that we don't KNOW what will happen, my game plan is always to lock in profits. I could live with any of your suggestions but my if still bullish, of them I'd lean toward #3, locking in gain and allowing further upside...

    Kim Snider

Once upon a time there was a clown on Yahoo who claimed that with his superior fundamental analysis skills (giggles from the peanut gallery), he could sell LEAPS that were 30% OTM and that it was free money. And so it was for several years. In 2007 he shifted his attention to slightly beaten...

If 32 people here say it's a good system then you'll put real money into it??? Running the system across a large number of trades will tell you if it's any good. Sadly, most people think that the trade is all there is to making money. How you manage the trade is just as important as the...

The Meaning of A Trading Edge

I like that definition of an edge. I'd add that one's skills enhance the result. I found a "trading edge" during the GFC of '08 and '09 which produced outsized returns for 20 months. But with all of the bail outs, stimulus and printed money, it ended. I guess my 15 minutes of fame is over...

Yeh, assuming you're not a troll... go to the library and read every finance/trading/investing book you can get your hands on. Start with the beginner stuff. Don't worry about things you don't understand. In time you will. You're learning a language as well as trying to find out what dialect...

Noob question - IB Option Model volatility

Just curious. Is this an academic question? ...because such subtle differences in IV mean nothing for most people's trading. And trading may even be a misnomer since they occasionally execute trades but they're not trading :) One thing about IB is that when I've had delta neutral...
