    What's wrong with this picture

Tradingwise, do you work for the Government? I mean is your job to patrol web boards and tell the people they are wrong when they get too close to the truth? Just seems to me beyond coincidence how people pop up on web boards to feed out the BS line and try and shame/humuiliate anybody who...

Parallels between now and 1929 are scary...

Japanese rates went to zero without reflation. Granted they were not allowing clearing to take place, but will the US? Too many rich people with money in hedge funds, too many not rich people overleveraged in their first home.

Parallels between now and 1929 are scary...

I was in the UK when the housing market crahed in the early nineties, In a FX dealing room in 94 and in Asia in the 97 crash and the 99 crash. I think the comparison with 1929 is correct. If you don't think so, go right ahead and fill your boots. There are obviously opportunities caused by...

    HSI --- the perfect market

HSI does tend to whipsaw a bit. I bet a certain FX "broker" is cursing for abandoning their 'copper the customer' business model (if they did). Over leveraged FX customers either lose or win until they lose. Probably a lot of Japanese housewives learning that one for the first time. Lots...

    Reuters: Major Hedge Fund collapsed

Yep, they were hardly traders were they? As far as trading goes they were just newbies buying the dips all the way up. Analysis or customer relationship management and position management are very different skills. It was about asset gathering and fees. The people who raised money were...

Unravel the secrets of the yen carry trade

Perhaps these guys should take a look at AUD/JPY. Nothing amiss there presumably. Those FX trading Japanese housewives we heard so much about are probably wondering what happened to their sure fire thing.

Wall Street bonuses safe from volatility

Management's main skill is not in fact those skills one might associate with their job title, their main skill is in fact selling those more junior the idea that their bonus will be less than they were asked to factor in, thereby keeping the bonus pool larger for the higher ups and costs down...

Wall Street bonuses safe from volatility

Funny thing is though only the higher ups bonuses are secured - everyone else gets a lot less than they were asked to factor in due to "market conditions". MLM pyramid compensation structures are great if you are at the top though, with all those fools working for nothing but a dream.

...............remember your retreat should have a satellite link for trading. Gangs of lawless marauders are likely to rip out telephone cables so they can trade the copper for asparin and salt.

This market is choppy because institutions buy at random times?

Funds will spread orders across brokers and brokers will compete to get the best VWAP and quickest completion - what can happen is that a number of brokers are competing on a relative price not absolute basis against each other so between them they will run a stock up until their allocations...
