    Getting hammered - why?

One important fact is that all I am hearing from Joe 401k is "I have to just hang in there as if I sell I will lose too much" We are stuck in a zone where the public has losses that are too big to take so won't sell, but we have not yet reached the point where they will sell at an even bigger...

TW (Taiwan) Live Trades on SGX

"well behaved and has nice moves" - something must have changed :D, all I remember is people taking advantage of the thinness with games like 3 tick trick (actually a good way of spotting a potential for reversal on a choppy day). It does have definite times for moves though.

    Getting hammered - why?

"You need to be in usa AND international stocks. It is good if you can be long and short somewhat, to blunt the effect of sudden news events and currency movement It is good to trade different instruments - commodities, stocks, forex, options, etc. You never know which is going to get...

Cramer calls for the reinstatement of the uptick rule

This is all part of the campaign to deflect the blame away from the real culprits. Shorts will be blamed when in fact all they did was their homework.

    Getting hammered - why?

The market is completely unpredictable and "news" and event driven in that timeframe and this can override natural market dynamics that can be redicted to an extent e.g. if heavily sold it sets up for a snapback through supply and demand dynamics. BSC was heavily sold.............. About the...

Starbucks Chief Doesn't See U.S. Economy Improving This Year

You know, I can't help but feel this just another retail concept that is past its sell by date - McDonalds was the Starbucks of the seventies/eighties and then lost direction as Starbucks have recently admitted to. Starbucks selling energy drinks is like McDonalds selling Pizzas, which it tried...

Epic Battle: Joe Lewis, BSC Employees, Funds Holding Large Lots of BSC vs JPM & Fed

Ritholz gas a god point on this deal as a deal contested by other IB or shareholders rather than by Bondholders: http://seekingalpha.com/article/69204-why-is-bear-stearns-stock-rallying "So as mad as the accumulation appears, it's actually quite rational -- IF YOU ARE A MAJOR BOND...

Commodity selloff due to margin calls

...............assumong the decline is not big enough for commodities margining to wipe out their equity - even on the less than exchange margin that HF's use - remember many commoddities, even copper and gold are VERY thin when everyone wants out together

Commodity selloff due to margin calls

I was referring to the internet boom has history has yet to judge PE and HF's. I also think it will appply to the concept of commodities and China will grow to the sky, just like the internet was going to. Disclosure: I am short BX .:D

Commodity selloff due to margin calls

Yes, the way they can structure is that unleveraged equities are collateral for leveraged positions which are unwound first - equiteis falling will of course will accelerate that.
