What exacly is a "Sales Trader"??

Sales Traders call the buy side traders while broker institutional sales and analysts call the fund managers and buy side analysts. Focus is different i.e Sales traders focus on alerting to "flows" and heads up for events, whereas sales and analsysts focus more on the fundamentals.

Bernanke says Fed did not 'bail out' Bear Stearns

The question here is who was asleep at the wheel to let things get to the point where ONE (ONE!) company filing chapter 11 could have brought the global financial system down and the whole world has to pay now. Non bank financials are not directlty regulated by the Fed, not sure if the SEC...

I'm FULLY CONVINCED that the market has finally recovered

April 5 is next Gann day (usually day before now). I'll be locking myself in a kennel until it's over (will leave GTC orders though). On a serious note, I have learned not to ignore Gann days.

    Goodbye to rip-off Britain

I remember I was travelling across US literally days after 9/11 when the National Guardsman asked an ordinary clerical looking guy in front of me "Did you pack any weapons with you this morning?" I just culdn't help laughing (it was so out of place to the way the guy looked), and got a "Wise guy...

    Fundamental Analysis

DON'T buy 5th edition. It is a completely different and totally unreadable book. Older editions have roblems with changes in accounting standards you need to know what modern GAAP does or does not allow.

    Bernake tommorow. Should be fun.

He should appear before a People's Retribution Council.

    The market is smoking crack

Market is heavily short and so can be squeezed to get a rally guing. Shorts are the buyers of last recourse - when shorts are being targetted it can be because there are too few natural long buyers. I see LEH as a longer term balance sheet writedown play, although the rules are likely to be...

Anyone paying attention to the collapse in LEH

BSC was about solvency and when push came to shove liquidity. LEH is about SOLVENCY and LEVERAGE i.e. QUESTIONABLE LEVEL 3 VALUATIONS vs EQUITY, as in negative equity (AKA insolvency). With the Fed giving taxpayers money to I-Banks liquidity is not the issue it was. The USD 4Bn preferred was to...

    Shanghai Composite almost retraced 50%

Strangely enough The Shanghai index seemed to take off around the same time as the US housing market went parabolic with the introduction of new loan types. Nobody in China thinks there is such a thing as decoupling. This view seems to be confined to Asia based strategists at US Investment...

    Goodbye to rip-off Britain

Maybe everyone will stop telling everyone they meet how much their house is worth, and how much they paid for it, and by inference what a f*cking financial genius they are. One of the reasons I go back there as little as possible.

End Of The Free Markets Is Now!

Same with counterparty risk. Your hedge was with BSC, tough cookie, you should have done your DD, just gonna have to write down the asset. I recognise that a collapse of the financial system benefits nobody and accept those actions and ONLY those actions which have to be taken to prevent this...

Paulson and Bush Gonna Screw Us All

This is a good idea which has a basis in other regulatory environments but it has for some reason eluded Paulson.

    If Buffett left the market

They probably have claimed that they inveneted them, they claim to have invented everything, for example they claim they invented advertising because fruit sellers would shout "fresh fruit". Maybe a Chinese cormorant fisherman capsized his boat and breathed the air trapped inside. That would...

Paulson and Bush Gonna Screw Us All

Wall St needs to be told with a hobnailed boot up their @rses that the rest of the world and humanity does not exist for the benefit of Wall St.
