10% unemployment but H1B visas accelerating

Maybe, but the HOURLY RATES for both professions is still extremely high. This is VERY UNLIKE the IT Profession where salaries and labor rates are about 1/3 of where they stood 10 years ago. Look at these pathetic rates...one could make more painting houses...

10% unemployment but H1B visas accelerating

Interesting that no one mentioned LAW or the legal profession. Because of the poor economy, top grads from law schools were ONLY getting $130k salaries, down from $150k of 2 years ago. So it appears that law, medicine, and accounting are immune to the disease.

10% unemployment but H1B visas accelerating

A COMMENT ON THIS THREAD: Wow, it's great to see so many FORMER IT folks now doing trading either full or part time. Sign of the times. Indeed, that field is so dead for anyone aspiring to be anything...let alone make a good living. It's cooked, finished, gone-for-good. One question remains...

Spain Says Adios to Xmas as 19% Jobless Hits Spending

It's very interesting to note that more women are working than men in this great recession. Why ? They're cheaper.

10% unemployment but H1B visas accelerating

This is exactly the case. I'm at my final Information Technology gig as I'm a consultant/freelancer who is forced to work thru agencies that take a 50% cut of my "rate". The place I'm working at right now has a MANDATE for 95% Indian offshoring for their annual IT spending budget. Let me say...

ASSENT - got this offer... are there better out there?

Interesting comment. When I heard that Keystone had an institutional rate of .0025, it opened my eyes and I saw how profitable these prop firms could become ! I mean, WOW, that's a whopping margin....for any business.

Dude - either you are BRILLIANT or I am STUPID. I don't understand the percentages you are showing. I don't quite understand how you came to your conclusion either. I do understand this however: but I think that it relates to liquidity and spreads....which for the index options means larger...

Stop losses. Are they the tools of winners or losers?

They can be good or bad depending on your viewpoint. I was shorting the Russell 2000 mini futures in summer/fall of 2007 (boy was that dumb !). Pretty tights stops produced 80% losing trades. That was the bad news. The good news was that I only lost a couple of thousand. Without stops, I...

Agreed. No mention of bet-sizing. No mention of stop-losses. (although we know in the options world, you can get filled WAY OUTSIDE your original stop...thus making it somewhat worthless) Example: in Stacey's failed BIDU long call options bet....there was no way any stop loss order would have...
