Daytrading quickly becomes a bullsh*t job, and as such people justify it?

Agreed. However, most are not trained well either. Not really. Much of the problem relates to these really crumby prop trading platforms. Many of them do not support stop orders, most do not support contingent and/or bracket orders. Day trading is simply longer-term trading compressed into a...

IB vs Thinkorwim - Options Trade Executions

re: May 6th outages at both TOS and IB. This indicates each likely to be using a third party service for the data stream....i.e. Comstock for instance. So technically, the problem is "outside" of their control.

Daytrading quickly becomes a bullsh*t job, and as such people justify it?

That was good, BUT..... Larry never mentioned: 1) a good trading system/approach 2) importance of building intuition 3) instincts of a trader - that takes time THESE THINGS JUST DON'T HAPPEN.

IB vs Thinkorwim - Options Trade Executions

Did you ever consider: THAT MAY NEVER HAPPEN ? TOS is really tough with BOTH commissions AND margins. and... their futures margins are really outrageous.

IB vs Thinkorwim - Options Trade Executions

Welcome to McDonald's ! You should see how bad it is relative to their technical support of their API. TOS was supposed to come out with an API, but I think that project got cancelled....and for good reason: Supporting a complex API requires huge resources. As with McDonald's, IB has the SIZE...

    Seriously, this is amazing.

Not me...50% at best....but I still manage a small profit. And that's the key: keeping the losers small enough compared to the winners. 98% winners ? Hogwash. That only happens if you are scalping in millisecond time-frames with wide stops.

Multiple monitors-USB vs. DVI vs. HDMI

I need to add a multiple monitor set-up (4) to my trading workstation. Can anyone speak for the different techniques of connecting the monitors ? I see some can be daisy-chained together via USB connector. Also, is there much difference between the older DVI connectors vs. the new HDMI spec ...

Daytrading quickly becomes a bullsh*t job, and as such people justify it?

crgarcia: I just came out of a 4 month contract with a "big pharma" company. Talk about bullshit jobs ! Most of the people there had these incredible benefits, yet they did nothing but answer emails and phone calls day after day. The amount of "dead wood" at this company was phenomenal...and...

My guess as to why traders fail

Agreed. Tim Sykes proved this. Then...he went from "special" to "normal".... and lost it all back. His is a great example...NOT to follow. Instead of doing what Tim did: 1) stay humble 2) stay focused 2) stay special

Thread on a Prop Firm Deleted

Agreed and fair enough. But this whole episode brings-up a really important issue: WHO monitors the Prop firms ? Isn't it FINRA ? That's why I mentioned about an investigation....you really can't believe the principals in something like this where money could have been lost. They're not going...
