ThinkOrSwim - Real account just as slow as Demo?

TOS has categorically stated they really are not interested in customers who get worried about dropped ticks here and there. Remember: they are an OPTIONS broker for the most part who just happen to offer forex and futures. They are NOT out to compete with IB, Global, Infinity, etc.

    Best business in a recession

The best businesses to own in a recession have always been the cemetery and funeral business. I wonder if even they have been affected by this nasty downturn in the US economy ?

Weekly results of a wanna B algo trader

Unless you move to futures or volatile stocks and employ a high frequency strategy, I think it's foolish for you to attempt this type of trading with a day job given there is some manual intervention required for 2 of the systems. Just my humble opinion.

    Bear - Trading Introduction

In as much as the Series 7 does nothing from keeping a newbie from blowing up or even becoming profitable, it's time to drop it as a requirement. It has no bearing on trading success. Let's give it the old heave-ho and develop something RELEVANT. Don - you should be leading this "charge".

High frequency traders literally printing money!!! LITERALLY PRINTING MONEY!!!!

Well, I think the latest unexplained market crash was caused by poor Indian software that had bugs. 10 terabytes of data and the SEC can't figure it out ? Ridiculous. The last IT contract I was bidding on was related to a horrible implementation written in India. I didn't get the gig (50...

See this. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=127957 I would be amazed to see a study that imperatively shows and proves there is a distinct advantage for ISO orders as it applies to HFT.

Obviously by analyzing Level I or Level II order placements, movements and volume. It's a well-known HF strat. Yes, but then they effectively go market with their order and bid the Ask or bid 1 tick above the NBBO (buy) or vise-versa on the sell side. So it costs them a tiny bit to do that.

Daytrading quickly becomes a bullsh*t job, and as such people justify it?

Nothing is the answer. The truth is in the BACKTESTING which few day traders perform. It's simple: tight stops must be offset by larger profit targets. Loose stops must be offset by higher winning percentage. Otherwise, you've got a LOSING strategy. It's plain and simple...just like trading.
