it seems based on the facts the execution price was too far away from the last price to be accepted. this is regardless of the actions by the OP even while including the possibility of a fat finger error.

the brokerage firm in question is a very big and reputable firm. it is licensed in 39 states in the US and subject to SEC oversight. every firm has misinformed idiots, bluffers and liars. just keep on pursuing until you reach your goal.

my recollection is that there is a 20% rule in after hours from the last price. the broker has to inform you if it is more than 20% away from the market. then you have to give positive assent to the order.
