"In 2015, Mr. Martinez said, his monthly payments will be $12,000 a month."

Is this guy on crack? 50 DVDs at $20 a piece = $1000 a month? This fool deserves to lose everything he has if he thinks he can throw money out of the window like that.

GS now in the 60's, hoping to avoid the "LEH death spiral"

A recent Bloomberg article stated that Buffet made an offer to Fuld for injecting capital into Lehman with a similar preferred share deal. Buffet buying preferred seems to be no 'cant goto zero' guarantee for GS.

this country is turning into a socialist dump

I guess the lot of you is still living in the States, paying your taxes and enjoying life never even having thought of leaving the country. Can't be that bad then. If it all was so terrible and the grass is so much greener on the other side of the street (Europe, Asia, South America), why...

    Who's selling

The media is dumb. They act like all hegde funds are 200% net long. Nothing could be further from the truth. Most equity hegde funds have very little net long exposure. If they get redemptions they'd cover shorts and sell longs, leaving little net impact on the SP500. BTW: Ever seen a...

    Best Excel Addon for Data

Sometimes data freezes for single tickers. I run spreadsheets with dozens of up to over 100 different tickers. Sometimes the bid + ask of certain random tickers would be zero. This is not an IQFeed problem because the feed in displays the respective ticker correctly in other software. This...

    Buyers Cabal?

You're right. The market bottom in 1974 came five full months before the official end of the recession. It probably won't be any different this time. Just got to keep an open mind and stay flexible; a feat not easily accomplished by just anybody here, judging by the posts

    Buyers Cabal?

Maybe the fact that we had two consecutive 5% down days in a row - statistically a very rare event - makes it hard for the market to drop another 5% today? I don't think you need conspiracy theories or the PPT. We're a bit stretched to the downside on the very shortterm timescale. If the...

heads up on dec NFP / unemployment

Maybe they will be revised to 350k or maybe to 150k. BLS NFP numbers have a sampling error of +/- 100k. This goes in both directions.

    Worse than the Great Depression

So you're not actually trading are you? Just posting threads with Bloomberg headlines every other day on how "things will get much much" worse? Let me guess. Rationalizing every day why you're sitting on cash instead of trading?
