Poole: Investors burnt in subprime mess got what they deserved

Funny, isn't this the same guy that proclaimed subprime wasn't a big deal and there won't be any issues arising from it? LMAO July 20 (Bloomberg) -- Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President William Poole said investors who lost money buying subprime mortgage-linked securities got what they...

Monday Will Start Off With Futures Down Big!!!

I am short a lot of ES over the weekend and even I don't hope we're down big. We're seen so much down volume without any significant up volume the chance of gapping up and being squeezed to the upside is way way bigger than a follow through collapse to the downside IMO.

BSC say: Credit Situation WORST IN 22 YEARS

HAHAH Q: "Will you guys buy back stock as it approaches book value?" A: "We think the stock is undervalued and doesn't reflect the true value of the company... [pause] ...but we're opting to preserve capital and trying to weather the storm." Read: We won't buy back because we think it will...

    Fed cut Monday or Tuesday

Calling for an immediate cut is ridiculous. If the Fed would indeed cut within the next three months they would have undermined 110% of the tiny bit of credibility they have. A Fed with no credibility is worse than a couple dozen builders, lenders and hedge funds blowing up. I see a high...

    Cramer on tilt

It's amazing to hear Cramer say on TV how many Fortune 500 executives are calling him to discuss the state of the credit market. Who on earth would talk to this nutcase in the first place? Once CNBC axes his show I am sure that will eventually save a lot of retail investors a lot of money.

Safest investment that is not tied to $USD?

If you're scared of any type of investment and think the dollar might lose value, you could hide in FXE (EURO currency shares). For good measure, you could add e.g. 5% FXY (Japanese Yen) and 5% FXF (Swiss Franc) as these currencies tend to be strong during times of global financial panic.

    Meltdown..

This is exactly why preservation of capital > making $$$ every day. Look at ES. Goes down a point per minute. Oh wait 2 points her minute.

Wednesday closing squeeze: Fat finger mistake?

Saw this on Trader Tom posted on Thursday (http://www.tradertom.com/analysis.htm): "The SP500 rally last night was apparently due to an error. A US house made a mistake and bought 5400 futures when they should have bought just 54 futures. This turned all long var players, who were going to...

    Caxton Hedge Fund In Trouble??

BEAKER, I am not knocking you. Rumors and emotions run price, especially when markets are nervous. Obviously there were Caxton rumors with people calling their offices day and night, otherwise they wouldn't have wrote that emergency letter to clients.

    Caxton Hedge Fund In Trouble??

Caxton Down But Not Out August 1, 2007 Caxton Associates said its flagship hedge fund fell 3% in July, but was still up more than 3% year-to-date. The New York-based hedge fund group, in a letter to investors, said the $11 billion Caxton Global Investments, is up 3.21% in 2007, net of...
