Writing a call against a losing long call

IMO, when you are wrong, you have to learn to take losses and move on. I would say that was something I excelled at. Kept me in business.

    Interactive Brokers down today

The reality is that systems can and do fail from time to time. That is why a good support team is so important with back up systems. Lightspeed and Lime have that.

Backup for IB for trading US markets from UK

As of today, Wedbush Futures does not accept retail accounts under MiFID countries because they have no offices in the EU. I expect to have another FCM this year for those accounts, We can handle Equity/Option accounts from the UK. This would not be a universal account and if you need data to...

Backup for IB for trading US markets from UK

What do you mean by “open api” and if this is a back up account, does that mean you will only use it when IB is down?

    Mentors and education

This is good. Have you ever done a deep dive into the trades that worked and the ones that did not? Did you get in too soon, stop out too soon, not let winners ride, break a rule or two because you did not wait for a break out with a volume confirmation, etc? I suggest you start by reviewing...

    Mentors and education

Hi Trader2713- I think it would be easier to help you as a community if we know more about your process. Why trade both equities and futures if you have not found a winning process yet? Maybe, for now, it would be best to focus on one. What is your process? What triggers a buy or a sell to open...

As a general rule of thumb, the delta represents the probability of ITM at expiration. E.g. 0.20 is 20%.

Costs and capital requirements for non-US residents/citizens holding futures overnight?

Hi NoEmotionTrader- #1, not if you have the margin available to cover exchange margin. #2. We base our commissions' rates on volume/month, not your net worth. I'd say that is common. #3. I have no idea who that is or what you are referring to.

Cyprus - taxes on full time trading?

I have heard banking in Cyprus is very restrictive. I have been told that Puerto Rico has no tax on trading, but you should check. Look for Puerto Rico Act 20 and 22 .

Legging into spreads and their max profits

Well, there are regulatory fees. It must be nice to pay no commissions and have no one to talk to. Cheers, Bob

Legging into spreads and their max profits

Before fees, you locked in a profit of $0.46. If you hold until expiration, and the SPY is above 313, you keep the $0.46. If the SPY is below 312.50, you make another $0.50 for a total of $0.96 before fees. If the SPY is between 312.50 and 313 or even close on expiration day, you will need to...

    News streams

I find that the best tool is a news aggregator. They can be expensive, but you get an aggregation of live news from many different sources where you can filter for what you want to see. They can easily cost over $200 a month.
