Wait, is this actually how people scalp?

    1) I don't want to *encourage* anything here......Go watch the DOM of your favorite thing to trade.... 2) Brackets brackets brackets. (If you wish to move 'em, that's fine, but at least they're in place as soon as your order is taken. In a 'golden' market, a good portion of your trades...

Wait, is this actually how people scalp?

Truly ROTFLMAO....! Hehhhhhhhhh..... At any event, as a winter mountaineering type, you learn to value the ehhh, "quick drop" if you follow my meaning.... "Woot!" ((( This thread has gone to crap, I tell ya.)))

Wait, is this actually how people scalp?

(That cracks me up! But in point-of-fact, I go through a 2lb canister of cashews about every 6 days -- at least one a week. {With 5 hefty shakes of habañero, 5 of garlic powder, 5 of onion. :wtf:YUM!} from a 1oz cup, so I don't much the whole thing in one sitting...)

Wait, is this actually how people scalp?

You can have a tighter SL on a second entry, too. For example, if you had a 5-tick SL on a first contract, and a 2-tick SL on a second, your expectancy* (with 2-tick profit-takers) can still work out nicely. For that matter, with a second entry, you can turn your return to first entry as a...

Wait, is this actually how people scalp?

ES: Put up a 1-minute ATR with a 6-minute SMA, and do not trade if the 6SMA is 0.50 or below. (For most of today, it ranged between 0.60 and 0.80: *premium*!) Seek just 1 tick, you've got 50¢ to play with. If you take 10 trades an hour, for 1 minute each, that's good for $85/hr. For a 6.5 hour...

Repair Strategy for NFLX Short Put

** Thanks for the call-out, but if I can note: it's premature. (As in, next Friday -- when both the $390 put *and* the $10 call spread at $395 both might die uneventful deaths...) ** The roll down/out *cost* you a week of Ass-In-The-Wind time -- none of us believe it likely right now...

    IB TWS & TWS API

You don't get it, do you. What you *think* should happen? What logic might really, truly, *dictate* should happen? Doesn't matter a whit when IB screws up a distribution. You've either seen that happen, or you will see it happen. Either way, your trading won't care about your logic, only that...

    IB TWS & TWS API

"Mostly" you're right, but there is so much chatter around the web, and I personally have never seen a version *rescinded* like this, that it's pretty relevant at this point. Even TWS vis TWS_API vis IB Gateway. Somebody screwed up biggly in letting something out before it was vetted, and if...

    IB TWS & TWS API

You might want close out, "clear the decks", and reload. Apparently, they rolled back the ("Steady") 963.3o this morning -- the roll-out of 972.1m appears to have been very miss-timed, or misqueued, or something. Lots of posts sprinkled around. But my re-load this morning was back to 963.3o...

Repair Strategy for NFLX Short Put

SO! Here we are (in reality) approaching $378, and the morning has dawned considerably brighter. BUT! Assuming the OP still has a $395 that's $20 ITM with 3.5 trading days to go, to answer the question of a "Repair Strategy"... buy Jul20 395 for $19.30 sell Jul27 390 for $17.70...

how much can you rely on "probability in the money" calculations?

One thing I learned a thousand years ago is that there are as many different styles of presentation as authors to present them. You've got to go out and find one yourself, whose presentation clicks for your brain. Nobody else's recommendations carry the approval of your own grey matter. (Been...

    how do i calculate

    1) delta: you should know this already, just to have asked the question. What *is* delta? 2) Google: a serious boatload of information which (unlike so much on the Interwebs, and especially so w.r.t. trading/investing) is pretty reliable. 2.a.) shop for delta-gamma approximation, or...

Is this a good strategy for volatility?

What is your strategy? Have you defined one? It makes a *lot* of sense to have a 100% Success strategy. A LOT. :D What you're missing re long straddle is what ElOchoCinco (and others!) wrote of, above: the volatility triggered by the event movement will inflate the price of your straddle at...

Is this a good strategy for volatility?

You can trade them as fast as you can click your mouse. But the wider the market (and it will widen with a big move -- The 85's point above), the more of the spread you will (likely) pay. If your question is *really* "How does this market work?" then nothing will beat putting up a DOM on a...

Is this a good strategy for volatility?

The word of the day is, Butterfly. Whether iron, call-only, or put-only -- there are different flavor subtleties that have whole websites written around them. But if you have strong reason to believe that this is not a stable price, a butterfly squeezes in on the (target) price.
