I started in forex a long long so know exactly what you talking about. No worries on futures Market. IB does not publish every tick. They aggregate and publish quotes every 250 milliseconds or so.

IB is a great broker for trading and access for world markets, their data and charting are very subpar, and it is ok. Just use a different data feed. One of the cheapest and best tools are NinjaTrader for charting and algo/Manual trading and Kinetick or IQfeed for rock solid and reliable data...
