Military is a necessary evil. Country needs military just like a wealthy celebrity needs a bodyguard. Do you guys have any security expenses? If you don't then maybe it's more difficult for you to understand the notion of "security".

I disagree. Investors want higher sharpe ratio. Risk adjusted returns, that's all they want.

But people also spend more and feel good when their salaries go up. People tend to spend their income not their investments. Even if there was no stock market people still would be spending more if economy gets better.

It's responsible for the health of the economy, not the stock market fluctuations.

Whether it's business to make a living or not is in the eye of the beholder. As far as I am concerned if some one incorporates his activities and pays corp taxes that's enough of a reason to declare his intentions to make a living from these business activities.

I disagree. I think rationale that traders and investors should pay taxes differently is ridiculous and accounting should be marked to market without financial shenanigans.

That depends on how the businesses revenues are reported. Even if their market making business is reported as 0 that would not matter. The point is 2 businesses have the conflict of interest. I am sure they can lower commissions compared to other brokers b/c they make money some other ways.

IB is a market maker disguised as a broker. No arguments there. No surprise that IB evil empire threads pop up now and then.

It might be cheaper in commissions but you lose big time on bid/ask speads. Go with TOS or other broker who is specialized in options trading.

Why do you want to use IB for options?

No issues with logging on.

At least they could redeem their money.
