    So it finally happened.

In my experience, any directional bet is hampered by an option position, not helped by it. A trade in the underlying is much, much more efficient. Over the years the profits I've made going long or short options would have paid off much better in taking a position in the underlying, and...

Is the rally real or smoke and mirrors

I think you should stop trying to figure what might be...and deal with what is. :p

can i have some advice from succesful traders.

They trade through a complete market cycle before announcing to the world that they are successful and ready for investors. Because of the raging bull market we've experienced in the past 4 months, your short term success would not have any meaning to an investor. A simple buy-and-hold...

    So it finally happened.

I had a similar day 7 years ago. Like you, I got sucked into selling premium because it had been working. An experienced options broker told me that at some point I'd get wacked because "shit happens". I didn't listen, and got killed. I give others the same warning. But they don't...

    What a GREAT market!

Look at the classic swings on the daily S&P. If an equities trader can't make money in this market, they really need to hang it up. Intraday, anytime the S&P is heading north of a daily 20 MA, just buy some morning weakness and take your profits. Like taking candy from a baby.

Uptrend with volatility. Doesn't get any better. Enjoy it while it lasts.

    IS GEORGE W. BUSH stupid?

In a democracy, people get the government they deserve. And in general, the average American is an idiot. If you doubt me, just take a trip any Saturday to a typical suburban mall and have a seat. (Wash your hands afterwards) It will quickly become apparent why Bush was elected twice...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

She is reading a teleprompter. She didn't write the copy. So your beef should be with CNBC. News networks don't make money on stats of their accuracy. They make money ONLY by collecting eyeballs, which they know they can do through fanning the flames of controversy.

    Vz

IMO, VZ and T are going to have serious problems facing increasing competition in wireless. And wireless has been their main base of support as individuals and businesses have been pulling their landlines for the past few years. The rates for wireless are going to follow the same path as...

IB force to close my accounts.

He reminds me of the recent story on CNN about the guy who was busted for having child porn on his computer. He told the cops that he left his computer on when he was away, and his cat walked over the keyboard. Seriously. I'm sure that IB has heard that one, too.

IB force to close my accounts.

If you were foolish enough to give your girlfriend your access codes to your IB account, you should thank IB for closing it instead of complaining about them.

Anyone else surprised at option-writing CTA success?

Also, note that the home page of this firm is filled with sponsored Google links. What does that tell you about their ability to generate income even for themselves through the CTA programs they are listing?

Anyone else surprised at option-writing CTA success?

First, read the fine print and you'll note a number of exceptions and conditions that should raise red flags when reading the chart of results. You've already noticed the first, which is an evident case of survivorship. This is typical of CTA listings. These are not the trading results...

The sad truth about trading is

That statement is absolutely incorrect and only demonstrates your ignorance of trading and investing in general. So you've managed to make some money over the past year, and now you're an expert in passive investing and just thought you'd drop by and let everyone here know they're wasting...

    Advisors who use IB

Because IB simply requires a master account to be funded with at least minimal dollars to cover any subscription fees for subaccounts. They own the sandbox and can make the rules as they see fit. I suspect their reasoning is that they don't want to deal with having to collect subscription...

Market down? Blame us short sellers!

Yep, it's our fault. I admit it. It has absolutely nothing to do with anything that has ever come out of Washington. God forbid. It's all of us wasteful, good-for-nothing traders. Reinstate the uptick rule. Price has to be 3% above the last bid in order to short. And then you can...

    1.2 Million dollars per job?

And in February, the 'official' projected job gain from the stimulus was 3.5 million jobs by December 1. So, I suppose that somehow the U.S. is going to add nearly 3 million jobs in November. That would be a neat trick.
