Finished goods from China FOB USA are often cheaper than the raw commodity price in the US.

No perfect answer. It depends on why you are doing this. We did it so we didn’t have to store a vol surface into a database and we quoted a lot of OTC. Then we used an interpolation function but that has drawbacks as they generally didnt get the wings right and didn’t work for all cases...

It’s an acknowledgement that academic proficiency is one part genetics and one part nurture. In your own life I’m sure you have seen the difference wealth can provide in terms of education and academic opportunities.

You are right. You are spouting identity politics at its finest. Btw - apparently the score is not driven by the individual but the community. So everyone from the same school gets the same score. Whites, blacks, Hispanics from the same poor school in queens will get a more adverse score than...

There are many communities that will have you. Go join one of them and you can speak freely. Some people in those communities might stab you in the neck for fun. But you take the good with the bad.

The score itself does not treat a successful black family different from a successful white family. If everything to you is about race, then that is your problem.

Those graphs don’t mean that this hardship score will account for race. Lots of Asians have high hardship scores (think immigrant Bangladeshi taxi drivers in nyc). A white person and a black person each born to a single opioid addicted mom in west Virginia will receive the same hardship score...

If you had a statement from the Wall Street journal that clearly stated “race is used to determine the score” you could easily post that instead of making me go on a wild goose chase.

The scoring algorithm does not take race as a factor for determining hardship. This is stated in the article.

A response to some of the other posters in this thread who have said that rich people are smarter and harder working (vs having some social advantages) as an argument against the use of this score.

The score does not include race. It’s explicitly stated in the article.

I agree as I paid full tuition (my parents are smart and hardworking unlike others on here who needed financial aid). However if that school gave me a shot i would otherwise not had (through financial aid) I would be giving them a lot.

They already do that by other means like the direct question on your application that asks your race.

The fact that you needed financial aid means you and your parents are losers according to most people in this thread.
