Range Bound Identified Within An Hour

If you need rise/fall to make a trade, you want to know the ATR. If you're looking to trade all day, you want to know the tide. (So, maybe an ATR(15min/6SMA.) But if you're looking to trade more frequently, then a 5min or 1min window is what you wish. If the 1min ATR is at 1.0pts, and you put...

Range Bound Identified Within An Hour

The ATR(6SMA) has been >1.0 all day. (And mostly, 2.0-3.0...) That means you could put on a mess of 0.50pt trades, and mill them about as quick as you can click your mouse. Use a stop! For sure; for sure. But Jeeeez. So! "Skip it"??? Nah. "Trade to the market," instead. (IMO. YMMV. OIMMBCTTA.)

Ever a good time to sell option premium on S&P 500?

I programmed Black Scholes Merton into my (admittedly ancient) microwave oven, and put in some freshly-kneaded Irish loaf dough, and I can say without a doubt, that the results were miserable. Therefore, BSM will not work to change my flat tire, either. WTF? Who needs such junk? Isn't it all...

Ever a good time to sell option premium on S&P 500?

Why short & naked? Why only Buy Puts sometimes? The thing about limited risk trades is that the risk is..... limited. The thing about unlimited risk trades is that the risk is....not.

    Covered Call Insurance

Consider, rather than buying a put outright, a spread. For giggle's sake, your CC's bottom-side BE, and then sell a few strikes below, to make a dent in the higher/long put cost. (Here's where I put that chin-scratching emogi.....)

Of course, there's Mom's favorite... "If you wish in one hand, and pee in the other,......." Good ol' Mom.....

    Covered Call Insurance

You need to erase the board and start over. Covered calls and buy-writes are 'low risk' trades only when you already own or intend to own the underlying. Otherwise, they carry the same risk as outright ownership, which you should hedge/insure as befits your entire portfolio. Look at some...

Your Apps Know Where You Were Last Night, and They’re Not Keeping It Secret

I have never owned a sell fone. I don't The Facebook. I've been watching closely for 20 years, but it still seems not-quite-mature technology to me. :D

Question about IB or Edgewonk individual trade reporting

TWS is not intended for monitoring individual trades. I don't know of a professional system that is. (Or why it would be.) If you wish to monitor individual trades as part of a system (i.e., grouped trades, average hold for profit, average hold for loss, etc), that would need to be done outside...

    If in doubt...stay out.

At least, in terms of long/short positions intended for longer term (week or more) holdings, and without nose-to-screen monitoring. An ADX of anyone's parameters is well below 25 -- "Woof!" (On the other hand, a VIX above 20?? == $$$! for the option crowd.)

    IB Down??

Computers have been a part of my professional life for 35 years: "reset" is an innocent term that means "Here comes disaster." Look in any Dev/Ops area: skeleton staff is the middle of a run. When do they have both shifts present? "Reset." (Also known as changeover, update, startover...

    iron condor

Rather than thinking in terms of an iron condor, you might examine whether to trade matched-margin vertical spreads on each side of the market. When the market tanks, write the bottom. When the market spikes, write the top. You'll end up with an UC, but with much better positioning. (And, better...
