Take Profit on Limit Orders, Equities

elguapo, I work for Lightspeed and we also own Sterling. If you are asking about conditional orders or bracket orders, we have both on Real Tick. Lightspeed does not have them but you can manually use hot keys and hot buttons. Sterling has some conditional orders. Sterling can do OCO-Order...

I see no evidence of this either.

    Help understanding open interest change

I have never seen a white paper with real data to support your thesis. That does not mean it does not have value. How can you tell if the trader initiated the buy or sell? How can you tell if it was part of a spread, paired with stock or against a current stock, warrant or convertible bond. Just...

    Wedbush and margins

I'm not following your statement. You would put $300,000 USD into a JBO/Prop firm? I'd say the average deposit is $10,000. What financing terms are your referring to ?Are you talking about the leverage?

    Wedbush and margins

No interest. and those are for generally for securities, not futures. The JBO/Prop world is on the decline. The model does not work anymore.

    Wedbush and margins

dextor, You are somewhat correct. Wedbush does not have their own in house software, so Wedbush does not tell you what your SPAN margin requirement is. The requirement would have to come from TT. I'm not sure if TT has a SPAN margin up load for Wedbush clients. I believe they don't. Wedbush...

    Monitor For Trading (LG 34UM69G-B)

2560x1080 is less monitor space than two 24" monitors that are 1920 X 1200. I'd recommend 2 that are 1920 x 1200. The extra space is a big deal. Something like this but with the connectors you need. These should last 5 to 7 years. Worth the extra money. I'm not recommending the Samsung, just...

    Newbie credit spread question

Buying the call spread or sell the put spread would both be bullish bets. https://www.lightspeed.com/trading-education-center/ When you price these spreads, the midpoint is not always "fair value" or a place you can get the trade done, but it is a good place to start for learning purposes. Bob

    Newbie credit spread question

If you buy the 44 calls and sell the 46 calls, that is buying the spread, which is s debit, not a credit. The midpoint at end of day is around $0.82. Based on that midpoint, if you buy it, you can lose $820. If you sell it, you can lose $1180, not including fees. This is what the credit spread...

What happens when the bid/ask expires between the strike?

It looks like there are two approved assignment procedures. I'm not an expert on this. PRO RATA or Standard-Assignment (wheel). https://www.theocc.com/components/docs/legal/rules_and_bylaws/prorata-assignment-procedure.pdf...

What happens when the bid/ask expires between the strike?

This is not correct. The buyer of the option can file an exception and not exercise their option. It is also possible because of the holiday, that the stock you were assigned was not booked yet. Look again tomorrow.

I would call it more trial and error.

More successful daytrading long or short?

The most successful day traders evaluate each trade on it merits and determine if the trade should be long or short without any predisposition.

What was your journey as a trader?

I started while at NYU in 1980-82. I had a very small account ($2500) and traded small cap OTC stocks. Made a little money but realized I was on the wrong side of the trade. I became an intern at a small NASDAQ dealer that was bought by a small regional broker in NYC. I worked on their trading...

Bear put spread vs bear call spread

A vertical call spread and vertical put spread, that create a box spread when both bought or sold, should alway = the strike value, which here is 1.00. There are circumstances where it is worth more and less. There is no reason to believe that they will trade at the same price. Take an ITM call...
