I had heard similar things from Canadian friends. Wealthy Canadians don't worry about costs (like any wealthy person anywhere). If they need an MRI and want it *now*, they just go to the US and pay for it. Ordinary people have to wait months. I've heard 6, 9 or even 12 months.

I looked for unusually active/volatile stocks this AM using IB's scanner. I filtered for price (>5), volume (>500K avg) and exchange. Then I looked at why it's up/down, favoring earnings news. I came up with on NYSE: YGE TRA PLD PCX We have PCX in common. On Nasdaq I found: LNCR

I ended up trading WHR, LO and MCY. In all 3 cases I took a break of the 9:45 inside bar in the direction of the opening gap. So it was long LO and short WHR and MCY. I got stopped out on WHR and LO, but MCY really paid off. I didn't size my WHR position correctly and ended up...

I've been using Chairman Maoxian's "dummies" entry style on these and other volatile stocks. Works pretty well, though it does tend to keep me out of some of the action. Basically he favors entry on inside bars or NR7 bars on the 30- or 15-minute chart. If the gap is up, you only take longs...

Is this the same algo from earlier in the thread or a different one? I assume the blue lines show a "sell zone" of some sort. How'd you arrive at them (basic algo).

I use the naked TWS for stocks and options and it's just fine though you have to get used to it. I just put the stock I like on a line. When I want to buy, I click the ask value and when I want to short I click the bid value. Once the order is created under the quote line, I adjust the size...

Dunno dude, your chart looks whacky to me. First off it says "YG" Secondly, I looked at the same period for YM and ES and they track almost exactly. I don't see the divergence you're showing.

You're right. I meant ATM IV. This is one reason why it's so hard to make money with earnings straddles. Front month ATM IV is pumped up in anticipation of high actual volatility. I've watched these things and seen the actual move be very close to the "predicted" move. Of course once...
