vix can not be calculated cause it's derived from options vol. Options don't trade after hours so there is no vix as such. Don't think there will be many people wanting to make a market in any derivatives derived from vix cause that will be second derivatives allready.

what most people don't get: it's all about context ... that's the reason they can't read their chart, you should have multiple charts of different tf's up to get some idea of how it works. People simplify this so much a robot could do this ! That won't work of course, this is human interaction...

if it's on the index you could always sell vix futures short, but beware this is a tricky instrument so you'd better know what you are doing ... which is not the case or you wouldn't be asking these questions ... in other words, you'll have some reading up to do ...
