    CL Redux

Congrats on being up for the day. I should have held my long CL trade longer. To try to not over trade I have been doing 1 - 2 trades per day. I am going to try to stick to this so that I don't revenge trade when a trade does not work out. I actually would not mind to just quit after 1 bad...

Why do 95% of retail traders lose?

Then why not switch to currency futures?

Why do 95% of retail traders lose?

Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec 2010 (3.8%) +13.1% +0.9% 2011 +29.0% +25.3% +17.8% (5.4%) +4.7% I think its because they can't recognize a good system vs a bad system. So they will put their money...

    A simple price action approach

1)The earlier you recognize a trend and can enter in an edge based setup, the more likely the trend will stay in place long enough for you to make a profit. 2) Trends do reverse. Think of resistance or support as a sand wall, as it keeps getting hit, the wall starts to crack and eventually...

Sending in 25 orders per sec w/ the sterling API

Really, you should have posted this under the hardware section of ET. Anyway, this is pretty simple, but feel free to send me a bottle of Chivas if this works. 1) Make sure you have exact same hardware on one of the computer that is not working as the one that it is working on. 2) Buy a...

Microsoft pays 8.5 billion cash for a skype?

IB: Unable to compute monetary value

Mirus Futures allows one to trade currency futures at pretty good margin. Remember margin does change when markets close for futures. However, you can ask them what times during the day and night the markets so that you can close your position if you don't want to risk higher margin.

    CL Redux

I agree, I felt CL was too hard for me to trade today, so I traded TF and 6A for a small profit. CL seemed to make fast random moves today, and I wanted something a little slower.

    CL Redux

1st trade for the day was YG or mini-gold. I like YG since you can be wrong and not lose much money. I thought YG was reversing up, but it instead went down right after I went long. I had my stop below mini support not major support and got stopped out. Also, I think problem with trade...

    Technical Analysis = CRAP

NoDoji, You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. I think this thread could easily be renamed "My name is Frits, and I am too stupid to understand TA." Feel free to let me know if you want me to change the thread title, or do you feel that would be abuse of my TA power?

    ES Journal Archive (2011)

Today made my week net positive after a stupid mistake. 1st trade went long CL, hit my target but found out I was in sim. 2nd trade went long YG, got out a little before target, and made a little. 3rd trade, put an order in for a limit long on ES with a stop and target. Did not think I...

    CL Redux

This could be one of the reasons you have so many problems with trading. Having a stop = to your target is not a way to succeed. Instead if you are long for example at 112.88 and your stop is at 100 which means you are willing to lose 12 points, your target should be at least 122.00 not 100...

    Day trading difficulties

Yes, one can make money when the market trends, or is in a range, but not when its random. 1) If the market is in a trend, go long in up trend, and short in down trend. 2) If market is in a range, sell the top or buy the bottom. 3) If market price is random, don't trade. So when I...

    AVERAGING down/up = success?

In averaging into a position, I look at it in a couple ways. 1) I believe in my trade, but am not sure of getting a perfect entry. So I place the 1st contract and see where the market goes. Does it start to go up right away for example if I am long, or does it go against me a little then...

From Art of War: 1. Sun Tzu said, The good fighters from old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat, then waited for an opportunity of defeating the enemy. I like to think of this in a few ways. a) Putting oneself beyond the possibility of defeat means having some type of...

From Art of War: "All warfare is based on deception." 19. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make the enemy believe we are near. 20. Hold...

Planning to Switch out from Fxcm!! Where do i go?

Exactly, this is why I rather trade currency futures since I get no pip charge and usually no slippage. For example lets say Euro is at 1.4215. You go long at 1.4215 and you are long at that price with a limit order (note no waiting for market to go 3 pips in your favor), and you target...

    Trading Hammers (revisited)

It may not be a hammer, but it is a pattern I recognize. If possible can you post a chart of a valid revised hammer trade, and does volume play a part in the trade or just price?
