ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

Sorry to disagree.....Oh yes it is. He who hesitates in this game loses.....money. Don't you know your order mechanics ? If I'm long at 2345 and the market is at 2346 and I put in a limit sell order at 2340, I'm out immediately. You must have a sell stop order for the 2340. Yeah, I can put a...

ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

I am going to give it a go....but heck, it's going to be a ton of coding....with all of these rules that I can "see" right now. My experience with autotrading intraday is the profits are tiny and the trade frequency is high. I built a system with a "straight-up" equity curve. When I applied...

Matt - when I get consistently profitable I'm going to consider this. Right now stop orders are placed on Interactive Brokers servers which are connected the CME Globex servers. I know that's not the best, but it's at least better than locally stored stop orders. If rithmic is connected directly...

I don't feel that way. I'm never yelling anymore or punching the walls out...LOL I'm calm when trading now. Actually, I stated I'm NOT flattening trades....I just let them hit my stop loss. And opposite of what you said, I am getting INTO trades far too LATE, NOT EARLY....I'm just not quick...

Thanks for that Carl......at lease one positive post. Is that # of trades (ticks) or Volume ? I don't think there's any way to get the number of traders, is there ?

Yeah, but see my recent post...I can do it with $20k at Interactive Brokers....without SPAN.

ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

Look, the micro futures are not going to work...the returns are puny....I may as well go back to programming....which I don't want to do. I am a hybrid trader, part scalper (1-2 points) and part day swing trader trying to pick up some trends for 4-10 points.

Omigosh, I'd love to do that...but with the 3 indicators, this is a VISUAL system. That's very important to understand. Ii would be quite complex to establish a backtesting methodology for this.

ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

I'd love to do that, but as we have discussed that depends on stop placement....a tough nut to crack. I need to incorporate volatility into the stop determination. Nope...I am sorely missing statistics....average time in winning trade, average time in losing trade (this could be seconds in my...

ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

Thanks for that Matt. I'm a former IT engineer. I knew to even a chance in this game, I needed something "special". The standard indicators were not going to "cut" it. Also, I've got a heck of a hardware set-up. Quad core processor, wired 1 gig internet connection (I would NEVER even consider...

ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

Never simultaneous positions. From my experience, I don't see a whole lot of difference between NQ and ES other than the volatility. Many times I for instance see ES starting to crater and then I see on my other screen NQ starting to fall. I don't agree with this. I think the algos are...

    Why do traders fail?

The best book on trading is "Trade Mindfully" by Gary Dayton. You will learn from this book as to why traders fail.

    I'm out

Oh man this is a huge problem. Those are two of the most important attributes of a good trader. You must improve on these or should not be trading. Also, I recommend you get the book "Trade Mindfully" by Gary Dayton. It's a tough read but it has a lot of great tips and techniques to help in...

ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

Totally disagree with this. There are times when price action and set-ups are in ES and not in NQ and vise versa. I consider this a method of diversification. BTW: I call NQ "the beast" due to it's crazy movements at times.

ES/NQ Trading - looking for solutions

Agreed It's already been acknowledged in this thread that current market conditions are tough for day traders. Totally disagree with this...I've been in so many good trades only to get shaken-out with half the profit I could have made. I tried that and all it did was increase my commission...

    Is there a comfortable mouse?

I have the Evoluent verticle mouse....best I ever had. Note: use with a mouse pad that has a ridge in it. Whatever you do...don't go with a WIRELESS MOUSE...that's a nightmare. I had to throw away my logitech wireless mouse....it slowed my computer to a crawl...there were bugs in their drivers...

Poker player moving to trade/advise please

My goodness this is profound and so true. It's so easy to lose money in the E-mini futures...there are gads of stories of 10k-20k accounts blowing up in a month or two. Risk management and bet-sizing are the key here....and of course going with the trend....IF one exists.
