    CME Group - fees outrageous

So prop firms must charge $0.14 in commish in order to get down to $1.00 R/T. I find it hard to believe they would go that low....unless you are doing 500+ R/T's per day.

Sept contract hit 3027.25 as a high. Where did 3029 come from ?

    CME Group - fees outrageous

Ah, I see....$0.36 then. I was under the impression the prop firms fell into the 106.R category.

    CME Group - fees outrageous

Sorry Minmike , I don't believe you- stated reg fees are $0.47 for exchange members and $0.50 for prop firms..commercial accounts. 0.43 may have been in the past...but not now.

ES or NQ. So commission should be around $0.50 R/T ? Wait .... aren't prop firm reg fees $0.50 per side ? How can you get under a buck ?

    CME Group - fees outrageous

I'm at $4 R/T right now so I shouldn't be bitching. By my calculations, going with an exchange membership or trading thru a prop firm would get me down to $1.50-$2.50.

I don't see the need for this blistering speed unless the strategies are looking for 1-2 ticks net profit per trade...and are high frequency. I'm looking for 6-20 ticks per trade.

    CME Group - fees outrageous

Ah....so the prop firms are in that category. Is there a minimum # of contracts per month to qualify I wonder ? No question I could not compete with the prop firms in terms of volume. Not even close. So the CME forces prop firms to hire traders only on a W2 basis vs. a 1099 basis ?

    CME Group - fees outrageous

Thanks to MattZ, bone, and Wrbtrader for straightening this out. The background check is quite a surprise....FBI ? Wow. I misquoted the Exchange Fee rates....I had the wrong column. The best deals are: Clearing Equity Member Firms: $0.35 Rule 106.D Lessee's $0.47 Rule 106.R Electronic Corporate...

    CME Group - fees outrageous

I didn't realize the cost was so low. What will that bring the exchange fees down to I wonder ? Wait ! The monthly fee is actually $2600/mo for a 1 year lease. Sale is around $250,000. I downloaded the fee schedule in Excel format: It says: Rule 106 .D Lessees pay $1.03 for Globex equity...

    CME Group - fees outrageous

I dunno.....guessing they are at $0.50 commission, $0.50 exchange fees, $0.10 reg fees. So $2.20 R/T. Can some pro's speak up on this ? I think HFT firms are at least half of this....maybe much less.

    CME Group - fees outrageous

I don't dispute this at all. I'm just saying if there was real competition for the CME, exchange fees would be more reasonable for retail traders....or at least more flexible based on volume.

    CME Group - fees outrageous

Indeed....yes it is. Should be a more discriminate fee schedule....monthly 0 to 2000 contracts, 2001-5000 contracts, etc. Right now you are hosed at the retail rate regardless of volume or you are an exchange member at near zero rates. Right now it's a binary option.

    CME Group - fees outrageous

I don't want to trade SPY...I would have to go with options to get the equivalent leverage of ES. Ah....so that's the key....the leverage. CME is exacting quite a premium for that "privilege". But where is the real competition ?...those other exchanges are just mimicking the CME....not competing...

    CME Group - fees outrageous

That is thanks to the Exchange Fees which give a distinct advantage to the exchange members....who pay litte-to-no fees. I do 60-100 contracts per day and must pay +$100 PER DAY in exchange fees alone....and then add the brokerage commission. This is ridiculous. The exchange fee should be less...

    CME Group - fees outrageous

BUT IT'S NOT commiserate WITH THE RISK. That's the entire issue in a nutshell. The fees are high, the risk is high. Should be : high risk, low fees. It's backwards right now to the CME's distinct advantage. They know that and the CFTC is too stupid to recognize this. OMG: How many stupid...

Broke even today...the short trades just clobbered me.....until the end of the day. Then, I got out of a sweet, late short trade way too early....a common problem with my trading. The market has conditioned me to take small profits.....and that really sucks. Gotta work on that with more patience...
