    Multiple Monitors vs. Single Large

Good discussions all. It appears FOR TRADING apps, multiple 19" monitors (4 to 6 mounted on a rack 2-high) appears to be the best set-up.

    Multiple Monitors vs. Single Large

Yes Gnome, I knew that. But will those windows that are "fitted" stay there ? The issue I have is that it is so easy to restore a window, move it, then maximize it in the single monitor. With a large monitor, you are always positioning the windows manually, grabbing the edges and resizing them.

    Multiple Monitors vs. Single Large

Having multiple smaller monitors appears to be better alternative to a large one, at least under Windows. The advantage of the first set-up is that each app and/or window can be maximized in a separate monitor. However, this can't be done with a large one. Am I right on this ? Has any vendor...

    Anybody having problems with OpenEcry?

Still, very scary experience. I would hold their feet to the fire to explain this lapse of support. If they cannot, GET OUT....MOVE ON.

Software Developer seeking to write trading app

I agree...it's a great idea to specialize. I had someone ask me once for a trading system based on EVENTS. Example: GAP OPEN. Wow, what a tough trading app ! It had to scan for gapped stocks on the open, and then trade them algorithmically all day.

    Any prop firms hiring?

Exactly. So unless the "group" is sharing profits, forget it. No advantage to prop other than the leverage.

all those traders who put up "$5000"

Bingo, BINGO ! I saw it happen to two traders. TWO different ways: 1) The first trader blew up in 2 back-to-back disasterous days. Previously, he was doing well for 6 months ! 2) The second trader was seasoned for swing trading, but got absolutely crushed in day trading. He lost his 5k over...

Software Developer seeking to write trading app

Well, I tried it once, and I'll tell you what it means. I attempted to use Excel with IB's ActiveX API....and it was an abysmal flop. Oh sure, I was able to make it work quickly without a lot of code, but it couldn't handle all of the connectivity problems that occurred. It also could not handle...

    Doug Allen Shill. Hello Mods

We've been through this a lot. Sushi claims that traders have been funded, but they signed NDA's to not talk about it. THIS IS CLASSIC "CATCH-22". We'll never know if the traders got funded by Doug Allen. NEVER.

    Iron Condors and Stupidity

A condor is similar to a butterfly, except there are 2 strikes involved instead of one. But the most important concept is you can be LONG or SHORT the condor or butterfly. If you are short, you hope prices remain stationary. If long, you hope they move...in either direction.

Software Developer seeking to write trading app

Existing popular software like Interactive Brokers TWS and the API as well as Ninja Trader are popular. One is proprietary in the sense you must have an IB account. The other is broker-affiliated which means you must have a broker that has established a relationship with Ninja. I think you'll...

Mark Cook predicted "stock market will have a gargantuan upside move between now

Ok, that makes sense....right ? Market will rally when the TARP appears to have failed then ? And earnings continue downward ? Delight when volatility is ebbing away ? That's a terrible trading environment. I was in it big time in 2004. Just horrible. Plus, you can scalp in hi or lo volatility...
