    ES Journal - 2019/2020

There's nothing wrong with flipping - assuming you're actually selling highs and buying lows. Done properly - it's in theory the most profitable way of trading. Today is not a flipper's market though. Use every pullback to get long instead. It's very, very unlikely that we don't take out...

I still think we will test and even exceed last Monday's Low. Just not sure when.

Very strong and well behaved market today. NQ and ES nicely in sync, although NQ is in the lead.

2630 looks just about right. Outlier target would be 2692,50. Probably not likely though.

LOD most likely in for the day. Should take out Friday's High by the Close and then some.

I believe the one's who really outperformed this year are the tail-risk funds. We're talking 1000s of %. https://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2020/03/18/business/18reuters-health-coronavirus-tailrisk.html

You should just stick with the DOM then and use no reference of past prices. :) In my humble opinion - a good trader should always anticipate and plan a few base scenarios and a few unlikely ones too. That way you're essentially prepared for anything that can happen and will know how to trade...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

The unwinding after 2000 was quite 'messy' too. Strong rallies and bounces are part of the script even in a bear market. We have currently rallied 15,95 % off the low in S&P500. Doesn't really mean anything. Comparatively, NDX is only 12,06 % off the low, but only traded down 30,45 % versus...

What is your biggest takeaway from the Feb.-March market disturbance?

I was thinking about this too. Anyway - are there not any rules or guidelines for when to liquidate your pension? Is the normal way to just stay invested and withdraw regularly or is the entire amount liquidated to cash at once? Regardless, if you're closing in on retirement, it would make...

What is your biggest takeaway from the Feb.-March market disturbance?

Suggestion for an instrument? Not really. But I've been considering adding something which is more volatile on average to my own list of instruments. Currently focused on ES and while it's on steroids now, it can be dull normally. Maybe crude oil. Or the DAX.

What is your biggest takeaway from the Feb.-March market disturbance?

I'm speaking on behalf of the long only crowd who got started in the markets 10 years ago and only heard or read about risk: That there's actually real risk in the market.

What is your biggest takeaway from the Feb.-March market disturbance?

Discretionary or semi/fully automated? If you thrive in high-volatility, why not gravitate to an instrument with more volatility on average when all this eventually blows over...?

Any why is that...? I don't see it that way - so would be very curious to hear your rationale. If we are to talk probabilities, it seems to me that we're in a time where we've been doing a lot of improbable price movements lately. From Friday's Closing price - Monday's Low is only 13,92 %...

IB's charts suck -- any recs for better intraday charting sites or software?

NinjaTrader. There’s a LOT of former NT users who seem to prefer Sierra though. I only tried Sierra briefly and decided I did not want to learn a new platform.

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Which is the truth. And which is why I usually have enough with predicting the day ahead and not an entire week. My main scenario would be a sell into early next week and then anticipating a bottom (or not) as we test the bottom. A strong gap up on Monday probably voids that. Definitely at a...

Take your pick. I favour red and green. Never a bad idea to map out different scenarios and have a gameplan to trade all of them.

Some possible trajectories for the week ahead. Not precisely. Just a rough guess of course.

Like I said above in a prior post - I don't yet trade my 'big picture' predictions fully, but they're part of my daily playbook. So, yes, in a sense, real money. But I'm mostly taking scalps in this environment. 3 - 25 points (if I'm lucky).
