Stop losses. Are they the tools of winners or losers?

PUT A STOP IN. IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW DON'T TRADE. Seriously, there are levels the market just shouldn't move. If it does and wick....get back in (more conviction for the move) But under no circumstances should you not have a stop. Just plain stupid.

    Option volatility

Yeah im talking about them. They're not uncommon. :) Thanks. Regardless of who the heck's buying the things though what's the advantage of buying cheap IV when the trend is DOWN. Just because IV is low doesn't mean it can't get any lower. The morons who tout it are dead wrong. Anyone...

    Option volatility

I'm making the assumption that most option traders disregard volatility. When trading front month options I see no bonus in buying low volatility. Even possibly 2 months out. In fact it looks like more of a burden just like fading a trend. It's almost as if you're making sure the...

Stop losses. Are they the tools of winners or losers?

2 equity curves trading with some of the tightest stops i've used in my life. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=2562494 For the amount of time I was putting in, this style wasn't worth it though. I will say that.

Stop losses. Are they the tools of winners or losers?

I was being sarcastic. Learning to trade without a stop is like learning to use a gun with the safety off at all times.

    132 pip loss today. Ouch.

Remember there are 2 axis on the chart. 1 is price. 1 is time. They're there for a reason too. Stops can deal with both.

Stop losses. Are they the tools of winners or losers?

I don't get it. There's always going to be a point where the trade is DEFINITELY wrong and it turns into a gamble. No doubts. Puts a stop there. It's easy. With that said, if you put 100 into a stock and that's .00005% of your portfolio, of course you're not going to use a stop. So...
