Quantitative Analysis to improve probability and results

ATR! Handy little beast. While recognizing that markets go through unannounced regime changes ("mood swings") on regular bases, it's still instructive to monitor your losers and winners for things like time-in-trade and esp. points earned or lost. There will be a sweet spot in there, that will...

    TradingView review: "Screw 'em!"

I constructed my own. But I've always regarded this guy's stuff as better than mine, and were I to pay for something, I'd certainly pay for this: https://www.hoadley.net/options/options.htm If we were grading this? I'd give my own work a B, to this guy's A. Mine does some valuable things that I...

    TradingView review: "Screw 'em!"

IB's TWS has done alerts *very* well since I've been there -- 2006 or 2007, so, there was no need for me to check TV's. Good to know, though -- and improves their chances of hooking up with a solid trade-provider in the future.

    TradingView review: "Screw 'em!"

I almost went with TradeStation when I started trading 10+ years ago. I forget why I didn't. the commission structure (vis. IB) I recall to have been similar. If I had foreseen my own interests in analytics outside/beyond what was available on the platforms, I would've gone with TS rather than...

Cryptos are BULLSHIT... based upon nothing more than hope, greed, and stupidity

I don't really have a dog in this fight, but "!=" is absolutely not in the everyday lexicon. I saw it for the first time a week ago; I wrote my first program in 1983. Tempest in a teapot, I know. I know.... But criticizing someone for interpreting the written word as the written word and not...

Interactive Brokers stop order not executed !

I and a (local) trading buddy had decade-old trading settings 'go bad' a month or two ago, with one of the new "steady" releases. Never nailed down the what or why of it, but for a day or two, it was frightening. (Not because it was not easy to pick up and fix, but because it was so unexpected...

    TradingView review: "Screw 'em!"

I want to agree with you, but I can't quite get there. On a professional level, you're certainly correct -- TV does not carry the performance necessary to put $1 on a live trade. But I was using it because it promised a better solution than me drawing-by-eye on IB/TWS graphs, and trying to...

Cryptos are BULLSHIT... based upon nothing more than hope, greed, and stupidity

Errrr, no. A good portion of this thread has worked around this post of yours: https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/cryptos-are-bullshit-based-upon-nothing-more-than-hope-greed-and-stupidity.326851/#post-4757101 which is now 180° from where you are now. Not every post/thread is going to hit...

Just saw this -- are you still around? Drink beer? :D

IB vs TD Ameritrade tick rate & API

I don't use either of your products, but I think it's awesome that you're looking at common paths and seeing/seeking ways to get together. Way-. (FWIW and all that.)

OMG interactive brokers charts are HORRIBLE!

They DO produce split-adjusted charts in the normal course of operations. They HAVE missed it on this one, and whether it's just the OP's or it's all DIS charts, it's idiotic.

So, you're saying now that Consumer Sovereignty is the shit? Then we're in agreement.

    Trading and Emotions

So it's not "Dog eat Dog" but "Dog eat Other-Dog-that-*thinks*-the-first-Dog-will-eat-'im"? This is an admirable outlook, and one that I share. But it's not reality. Reality is just like the financial markets we trade, and if you stroll in with rosy lenses and think the other guy won't rape you...

    Trading and Emotions

I have not run too much in the past decade, and for an older guy ("Me!"), that's trouble. But in the past year/18 months, I've slowly tuned back up a bit. Next weekend, I'll hike a bunch. Weekend after that, I just made a date with my X (oddly enough) to hike a marathon of distance with a target...

    TradingView review: "Screw 'em!"

Not interested in detailing -- no. I'm (nearly) done with it. At least for now. It is a web chart provider; it is aspiring to or has already developed live-trade abilities. "Chart porn for the masses" is a great description -- but also (and key for me), it is "Backtest for the masses." And too...

LA throws 96 million 'shade balls' at its water shortage — and it's mesmerizing | Mashable

I would've thought so too, but I think there was a specific reason for 'em to be black. I just totally forget what it is.

OMG interactive brokers charts are HORRIBLE!

I'll be you've never eaten fast food, either. Nor worn blue jeans when a nice worsted wool slack was around. Nor bought the cheap beer when temperatures popped. "Scammers, all!" you cried!:mad: "Sue the bastards!:mad: :( Poor Mick. Keep up the good fight -- whatever it...

    Moving Averages/Trendlines/Time Intervals

But to be clear, your average loss and average profit indicate the system needs a dose of "Cut your losers short, and Let your winners run." That is why those averages are camped out at your limits.

OMG interactive brokers charts are HORRIBLE!

Not the stupidest post you've made ever, Mick -- but perhaps just today's. If you want a nice, safe consumer car-platform, then go drive OptionWunderbutt 2.0 around for a while, with their $3.50 tickets and $x more per contracts. They'll love you. :D Me? I'll suffer me some IB anytime --...

    Moving Averages/Trendlines/Time Intervals

Given that your average win is nearly your limit at $200 (+$195) and your average loss is dang close to -$200 at -$185, it'd be a sweet thing to bump that upside TP to $250 and dump that SL down to $175, and see what happens. I know your playing, so if I missed some rule or R:R convention to...
