All US Financials Will be Nationalized in a Year?

I think Hendrys hedge fund is really small (< $250m USD). He's small fry, but then again, this gives him the chance to mouth off and present controversial opinions because he doesn't have to protect a good reputation or brown nose his institutional clients

Citigroup seeks "emergency cash" from U.S. Treasury

Nationalizing would be doing them a favor. Their officers ought to be court-martialed and then shot in the necks.

No Buffet didn't see it coming, that's true. But get this: He doesn't have to. Buffet didn't see many things coming in the last 40 years, he made many mistakes (read his annual shareholder letters, he recounts many of them unlike others who only mention their calls that turned out to be...

Must I Be The Voice of Reason In All This Giddiness?

When the SP500 gained 50 points from 100 to 150 in the 80s you think that carries the same 'weight' as the 50 point gain from 1500 to 1550 in 2000? Not using a log chart distorts the picture on a financial time series.

S&P will be under 700 within days

It wouldn't be out of the ordinary to see 30, 40 or even 50% rallies along the way without violating the underlying bearmarket downtrend:

A couple of Hugh Hendry trading ideas

A couple of his ideas for the next 12-18 months: - long GBL (German Bunds). He thinks yields wills go from ~4% to 2.5% within 18 months. - short EURUSD. He "wouldn't rule out parity once this is all over". - short GS/C to 0 (If I understand him right he means all big banks/financials in the...
