    What, precisely, is a 'depression?'

I read the other day - and this is probably far from scientific - that a depression is defined as a >10% peak to trough decline in GDP. Great Depression was -30%.

    Germany Blasts UK's "Crass Keynesianism"

Isn't that funny. Wasn't this jackass Steinbrueck running his mouth in September on how Europe is immune to the credit crisis and how the European banking system is so superior to the anglo-saxon "greed-driven" model? Now he's back, ridiculing his British neighbors...

What kind of returns are possible?

Drawdowns measured intraday, end of day, end of month (which would be the standard for hedge funds)? In my own experience a 20% drawdown measured at month's end likely represents a 30-35% DD end of day (sometime in the middle of the month).

Every major bear is now bullish

Japan is in a multi decade bear market. Does that mean you could have just shorted any 5% rally with your triple ultra short ETFs without stops and collect free money? You'd been blown out of the game multiple times even though the Nikkei declined 80% You still need to know how to trade and...

    How can i raise money?

See that's the whole problem. You'd prefer to not gamble with the money of people you know and that trust you (friends and family) but you expect people who have never met you nor know you (3rd parties) to trust and invest with you (a newcomer with no track record) for the "long term". Rich...
