It this market being proped up?

Hell yeah there's a clear definition. Whenever a trader takes a loss on a short, the PPT was clearly the reason. Even if the market only goes up while the trader was in the long. Geez, some people. ;)

    switching cable to dsl question

Seems like most ISPs love to install a CDs worth of crapware on your PC. If you are running WindowsXP you shouldn't need any of it.

Without the Hurricane, would the market be up?

Yeah, the media was going nuts, said 1 million homeless, New Orleans under 30 feet of toxic, oily and poisonous water for 8 months, dead bodies washing out of graves, coffins floating down the streets, oil to $1,250.00 a barrel, the Earth to spin into the Sun, etc. It was just like the posts...

Unfortunately not, that'd be interesting to see.

Almost there, Katrina's moving things along fast.

Moral support and confirmation needed about starting trading for a living

Ozzy offers good advice, except for maybe the bit about swing trading. Not sure on that one. That same advice has been offered to numerous traders who have still managed to blow their accounts. So let me offer this same advice a bit stronger. You cannot and will not start too small and...

    Log Rolling

Dunno about Wiley, but the theory is that folks with decent reps amongst traders (like Linda . . . uhm. . . Radske or whatever, or like Vic Sperando) might want to protect those reputations and not plug a stupid book. For free, anyway. And let me say that I've never seen Trader Vic (Vic...

PC took long time to boot up, help please.

No doubt. I built my trading PC in . . . uhm. . . early summer `02, and the only upgrade I've done is the CPU from 2.26 ghz to 3. Plus the main video card on account of how I like to play games. Over three years, and a couple minor upgrades.

    Log Rolling

It's my understanding that a lot of these cover blurbs are tit-for-tat sorts of things. For instance, if you and I both had books coming out about how to buy and never sell at a loss, I could write a nice quote for your book, and you'd write one for mine. Look at vidoes for instance. You...

S&R Zones as Opposed to Lines

Yeah, we had some nice ones today. One was about 7.25 to about 8.25 on ES. I bet there was a pile of corpses in that zone.

    Buffet says Crude has peaked

Do you think the richest and most famous investor on the planet would: A: Tell the world what trades he plans to do before he does them, thus allowing every cheapskate, tightwad, Joe Sixpack and EliteTrader to ride along and thus undercut his profits? or B: Lie or otherwise mislead...

    FIX vs. ActiveX

I don't know anything about FIX, but ActiveX shouldn't be a cycle hog, unless the code is poorly written (in which case, surely the user base would have complained).

    Midnight rally

Now this one seemed easy to call. A trend down to close at the LOD frequently means a bit of upside post-close. I dunno how you guys call the rest of them tho.

    Using VB.NET with API example

You guys have this stuff all wrong. Lord knows, I hate doing bitblips and all that BS, and it takes me an hour of research to write a line of that sort of code. This API stuff from VB is like falling off a log. I'm not quite from the COBOL, FORTRAN days (but I did learn them both in...

    Why not trade price ?

For a pure, seasoned, nonemotional trader, that might be true. For traders who still have emotion clouding their objectivity, indies can serve a useful purpose.

    Using VB.NET with API example

I never did. The API is pretty simple and the docs are decent, IMO. It's not too hard to hammer out w/o a starting example.
