FWIW I've shorted a lot of stocks the last few weeks. I haven't noticed much difference (using IB). I only short from 100 to 500 shares though. I'm too chickenshit to hold shorts for more than a couple days...

I learned that IB's Margin Liquidator program works pretty well. It's giving me a PF of better than 2.5, for EOD closeuts (long and short).

I just wish we had a President! :p

I am only averaging about 17% ROA per month this year (uncompounded). Guess I have to pick it up a little to keep up with youse guyz... :cool:

I find shorting in general very satisfying, but much tougher than long trades. Not just picking the right stock, but the psych aspects of holding them when you are getting pounded and the whole damn market is ramping. For example, what a great long term short CROX would have been. Sure...

I short a lot of stocks, but after several sleepless weekends and close calls I dropped position size way down. If the short trade gets to be a significant pcnt of your account, one day one of those surprise "buyout-at-a-72%-prem-to-closing-price" deals will gut you. Or even the rumor of one...

Isn't this kind of thing, buying and selling, called "trading"?
