    Last, Ask, Bid

With Ameritrade you don't have a choice. The best you can do is a limit order. You do not have the option of selling at the ask or the bid. If you are trying to enter a short position, the MM's they use will not offer you out. If you are trying to close a position you will sell at the bid price...

    VWAP trading

Don thanks for that practical explanation. And I hate to sound ignorant but it's my specialty, say XYZ is near/at the VWAP and the T&S starts printing size hitting the offer. Are you saying.... not guaranteeing for gosh sake :).... that this is a good time to ride the coattails of the big money...

    VWAP trading

Again.... GE and MSFT are trading at their respective VWAP's. What edge does this provide intraday? I understand the idea of reversion to the mean, that is what I count on for my trading. Actually I count on diversion from the mean.

    Question Regarding x-Div Date

Adding to a losing position..right or wrong?

Well in that case you would be scaling in, which is a pre-determined strategy as you just stated in other words. This is one way that deep-pocket commodity traders enter in to positions. But scaling in and averaging are different. Averaging is usually a knee-jerk response to a blown or...

    Question Regarding x-Div Date

I think the ex-div date and pmt date are the same. Anyway, as long as you are out of the stock before the record date, you are safe. I know the record date thing is accurate, but someone tighten me up on the rest please, if I am not accurate.

Adding to a losing position..right or wrong?

Bolts the max % would be reduced yes, perhaps making the trader feel better, but the dollars lost... which when paying the mortgage is all the matters :).... is increased. damir' I don't disagree at all with your statement that each trade should be taken on its own merits. You are exactly...

    VWAP trading

Okay.... for example, right now I have the VWAP for BRCM as 22.079, and the price is 22.24. What trading opportunity or information is this telling me other than the current price is above the Volume Weighted Average Price?

Adding to a losing position..right or wrong?

Many traders average their basis by adding to a losing position. I don't agree with it, neither do many, if any published trading experts. However, adding to a position has nothing to do with a time machine. Does your broker reflect your portfolio as separate positions for the same stock...
