I hear when you get over 1000 posts that there is a free buffet at lunch too! Dare I even wonder what those above 2000 get? :)

    The market is whispering something...

http://www.cges.co.uk/omplatest.htm The link above gives a nice overview of oil price expectations. In short, war with Iraq is accounted for already. http://www.bloomberg.com/energy/index.html This will provide more calm to the oil storm. This time last year oil prices were at 18-20...

    Dow About to Break Out?

TGregg, that is another nice potential scenario. Good thoughts. These kinds of color commentary make TA so fun. You check out the charts, you make your play, and then when your short the company comes out with bad news. I liken it to the X's and O's on the play diagram. Does the offensive...

    Dow About to Break Out?

Gordo, can you explain the above quote? LOL! I wonder why a response was generated to a post not seen. Ooooops! Is there an upside breakdown? You know... in the spirit of... ...being absolutely clear! Sometimes tasting your own medicine can be a bitter experience. :)

    Dow About to Break Out?

At the risk of inducing the pattern-bashers to jump in, another way to look at this same chart is to put it on close only, or the line chart... however you call it, and set a ray at the lows of Jan and Jan 8, clone that line and attach it to the high of Jan 6. Doing so, one could make an...

    Dow About to Break Out?

Yeah the rising wedge is supposed to be bearish... still the fact that it is so deep into the apex as drawn on the chart pretty much negates its predictability. Its value is more as a bearish continuation than a reversal. Again, I am just paraphrasing that point, but my experience has been the...

    Dow About to Break Out?

I would call that a rising wedge. My understanding is that an ascending triangle has a horizontal upper leg and a rising lower one. Also, the price is deep into the apex which is supposed to mean a failing pattern. Just my 2 cents. :)

Rarely do I quote an entire post. This one is deserving. Of course I think so because I happen to agree with everything said here. Not as if me quoting an entire post is anything meaningful to others... but I just thought I would mention it. :)

ewile I have that method coded into Excel. Of course, lamo that am I do not use it... however, have you found the volatility ratio to be worthwhile? For me, that one idea seemed like a good one. Another way I have considered using that volatility measure is to take a longer period, say like...

Thanks big. I appreciate it. I am fairly recently becoming aware of this strategy enhancer. And I am really glad to see that you apply it to stox too. I use Qlink and Excel now for some ideas and you have given me more. Thanks a lot. Hopefully I can return the service. :)

That cannot be good! I am familiar with the axiom you mentioned and understand it to be sound advice. And of course like everything else in this biz, there will be periods where the axioms are not true. My question of the time interval was not valid actually as i realize that you probably...

    Another Very Simple Trading Strategy

Hey big, I saw you in the chatroom. I don't get there too much anymore. Interestingly, your [open to high on an up day] idea corresponds to what Crabel calls the stretch, whereby he takes an average of the open to the nearest extreme for the day and uses it for the next day. If it is...

    Censorship on Elitetrader?

Point taken, but you know what I mean. :) And I cannot imagine that Nixon envisioned an internet and/or the extent of it in his day. I suspect that at most his taped conversations would be buried in the archives witht those of the rest of the presidents that go largely unread by the masses...

That's where I am at too. Of course for everyone, not just traders, it would be nice if the p/e's could come in to line because of a change in the e's.

It might help too if the price of common stock reflected a more realistic relationship to earnings. As such on average, stox are still way over-priced. Earnings expectations drive institutional participation. With guidance in general being suspect, and no real positive near or intermediate...
