    LCD vs CRT for trading

Yeah heat's the big thing. I used to run 2 21" CRTs and now have 6 19" LCDs and a 21" CRT. I get less heat now. Still gets warm in the office, though.

    LCD vs CRT for trading

Actually we take . . . uhm. . . regular photos. I didn't know they had this option. My wife does all the developing. We're having a block party this weekend. Maybe I can get somebody to loan me their camera for a bit. These things are pretty common amongst the . . . say. . . low end of...

    LCD vs CRT for trading

Man, I gotta get me a digi camera some day. It looks a lot like another guy who has 6 - 3 across and 3 on top, except mine aren't as well adjusted, there's more gaps. Plus I have a 21" on the side. If anybody wants to send me a digi camera with postage back, I'd be happy to post a picture...

Let's hear your explanation of the "conundrum"

That's what I wonder about. Greenie's been the man since I've been full time in the markets. How'd things go when Volcker left?

    Explain economics

Well for one thing, Economics is about as soft a science as daytrading. There's even an old joke about how economists have many hands, because they are always saying something, then qualifying it with an "On the other hand. . . " Next, there's plenty of political slant. For instance, there...

Why "Paradigm Shift" thread has been removed from this board?

I deleted it. Extremely unlikely conspiracy theories with doomsday and TEOTWAWKI scenarios just around the corner are not appropriate for the Econ forum. EliteTrader's Economic Forum is not the web's version of The National Enquirer. You may believe it is true, as well as others. Some folks...

any good chat rooms in Paltalk & Hotcomm?

I've found that some are considerably better than others. The good ones seem to be unadvertised, and one has to request access to them. But I do not speak of "Follow my trades" rooms, rather places where traders gather on (more or less) equal footing.

    My next motherboard

What could be so much better? The big deal when we jumped from 16 to 32 bits was memory addressing, INTC had us in that stupid 16+4 memory addressing thing where every memory spot had like a dozen different possible addresses. Man, that sucked. But at 32, what's that? Like 4 gig a thread...

My new rig... Q: monitor output

Yeah. You can add single, dual or quad monitor cards. Duals cost more than twice as much as a single, and quads cost more than twice as much as a dual. There's also a limited amount of PCI slots in your mainboard. And finally there's heat to consider. Not sure about this, but I suspect...

My new rig... Q: monitor output

You want to add quad to get . . . uhm. . . sextuple or whatever? Or do you want to add dual to get quad? And your card is almost certain AGP. Unless your mainboard is one of them new fancy ones (not sure if they are out yet) that has dual AGP slots, you cannot add another AGP card, only...

    Jokes

Here's one I've enjoyed telling more than once: Amall and Juan A young lady in Chicago had boy twins, gave them up for adoption. One was adopted by a couple in Spain; they named their boy Juan. The other one was adopted by a couple in Egypt; they named their boy Amall. Many years later...

As I understand it, the MarketVu went from free to fee-based a few months ago. Did they switch back?

any good chat rooms in Paltalk & Hotcomm?

Mostly yeah, sad to say. I'd rather listen to a room that has general information, like new highs or lows or reminders about what's coming out at 10, or comments like "Over the past three days, we've made new HOD during the 3:00 hour." Sadly, most traders want calls. Maybe it's just me, but...

    Huge Losses

There's no question that Ripley has received a pile of good advice, much of it he already knew and choose to ignore prior to posting here (see my first post in this thread). There is no reason to suspect he is following the good advice given here. Trading is not some weirdo Follow-your-gut...

any good chat rooms in Paltalk & Hotcomm?

I listened to that for a while, and gave it up when it was still free. Vu's a tard, and generally worth fading. S&PMentor is an arrogant SOB and not worth much IMO. They also had a trader named Jerry that seemed to have a clue - I respected his opinion. Dunno if he's still with them. The...

How to hide a hard drive?

Yeah I was thinking about getting a pair of removable drive trays, one to hold the disconnected drive and the other to hold the drive I'm using. But I liked my switch idea better.
