When has ET become idiot-free?

Or maybe not. Well, let me take a stab at it. I just reviewed the thread with the idea of moving it someplace other than CC. I decided that it really does not address trading, and there's no place to put it other than CC. Instead, it's more of a discussion about how EliteTrader members react...

Oil supply what's the real situation?

We're burning what? 84 million barrels a day? 100B is just over 3 years, assuming no growth in demand. I'm no expert, but if in 3 years we wouldn't have any oil left that we knew about, it'd be a hell of a lot more than $60 a barrel. Geez, it's be $60 a gallon! 84 million barrels a...

    Automation

Darkhorse started a very good thread about the impact of automation on the economy. It's an interesting topic, and perhaps we can spark a discussion with this article about robots patrolling malls. The post Darkhorse started included mention of ATMs, automatic checkout lines at grocery...

    Euro....what Euro ????

I remember when they first started talking about the Euro. Intelligentsia was all aflutter about what would soon become the world's currency, finally replacing that Symbol of Evil, the greenback.

Tell us a little more about your system. How many and what kind of video cards are you running? How many monitors? Right now I'm running a big ol video card (OCed GeForce 6800) and three Matrox G450s on 7 monitors with a crapload of charts. My CPU (it's noon, so it's slow) is running at...

    VIX in the 10's

Wow. I know it has been a long, long, long time since we saw the trading curbs, but didn't know it was that long. Sheesh.

    Question: hiring custom programmer

Not sure if you want a general indicator sort of thing, or a full-fledged trading platform and/or automatic trading system. The first one is not a huge effort, but the others will literally take hundreds of hours of programming time, unless your coder has some sort of framework already built...

How do people... guess... earning information before it's officially released?

Folks in the know about how a company is doing play golf or otherwise are friends with folks in the know from other outfits. Scumsucker A from company A tells his buddies B, C and D that his internet company has been sucking air for a while, so B, C and D short and/or buy puts and/or sell...

    When has ET become idiot-free?

I didn't move it, however I can shed a small amount of light on the subject. Mods generally don't have time to go read all the threads they banished to CC, so it's likely that the mod who did so, never saw your questions about why in that thread. It's much more likely they'll see this thread...

Crude at $65 will signal market callapse

There's a bearish sign if ever I saw one. ;)

A lot of places have (or used to have, anyway) a free trial. I encourage you to look at several different packages.

Nasdaq Busts and my $11,000 story

My non-trading friends think I am exaggerating when I tell them how crooked the street really is. Shouldn't IB have told Naz to go pound sand, that the issue was already lower and besides, they shouldn't have taken so long? We need to have some kinda Traders Union with a couple lawyers on...

Crude at $65 will signal market callapse

The market, she's clearly feminine. Jump in oil prices, record trade deficeits, huge consumer debt, and we jump up. I tell ya, it just doesn't pay to be a fundy analyst. ;)

    Quad LCD Monitor Stands

On mine, my bottom monitors are about 1.5" off the desk, and eye level for my setup is dead on with the top of the bottom monitor and the bottom of the top one (2 rows of three 19" monitors plus a CRT off to the side). It's not uncomfortable at all to look up just slightly. My main two screens...

    Party Poker IPO...

Be even harder for them to catch a conference call. There's no way they can catch all the cheaters, unless they start busting people because they "won too much". They could try to catch repeat groups, but that would be an easy obstacle to overcome.

    Goog

So let's see. GOOG has 3.8B in sales, and 700M in income, that's about 18%. Let's say they grab each and every new ad dollar coming in between now and 2009. That's 19.2B, time 18%=3.5B in new income plus the old income of 700M equals a grand total of 4.2B income on a very good climb to 2009...

    Markets turning around...

We've been in this cotton pickin' range for what? A month or so. Yuck. We need a nice big trend day to mow down the new crop of doubledowners. :) On one hand, this range up here could signal the end of the bullish correction in the longer term bear market. On the other hand, we might be...

    Jokes

LOL, that's what makes it funny. I guess there are a few gullible and maybe a bit dimwitted folks around. One, anyway. :)
