    Margin (sub)accounts together - possible ?

FC Stone. The master/sub is used for two purposes. A prop group with many traders and an investor that wants to set up one account and invest in many CTAs. It is a more efficient use of capital. Bob

    Margin (sub)accounts together - possible ?

Yes, when you have a master/Sub account structure at an FCM that allows this, the sub account positions are netted out for margin. If you are long 10 ES in account 1 and short 10 ES in account 2, your margin is zero. This may not apply to IB master/sub accounts which have a different set up.

    Margin (sub)accounts together - possible ?

What you can do is have two traders, members of the same entity. Create one master account with the cash. Sub accounts to monitor P & L, but the master account is where they calculate margin. You can't share equity and margin if the accounts have different owners and different EIN#.

    Bloomberg support-- good? bad?

Bloomberg is very difficult to use. They offer free classes and the support team will work with you on the phone. For $2K/month, you better get great support. Make sure you read the contract. After our 1st year, it auto-renews for 2 years.

Is a demo account waste of time?

I was an options mm. Toward the end, I made markets electronically and automated. With that type of trading, you can't make money without risk. You can't get rid of all your Greeks at eod without a cost.

Is a demo account waste of time?

I'm referring to trading as a business. Even someone that opens a restaurant can have fear of not making money and paying bills. I'm not referring to losing money on a trade. That is part of the business of trading. I traded for 25 years. Never knew what I would make the next month or year. The...

Is a demo account waste of time?

You never have fear of losing money? Then you would be the exception. When a trader trades for his living, has a family and expenses, the fear is real. A bad day, month or year can lead to problems. I've encountered it myself and have watched it MANY times in others.

Is a demo account waste of time?

I feel that demo accounts are good for learning a new platform or testing an automated strategy. I find you learn more in real trading, but trading very small lots. Paper trading has no fear or creed. Without those emotions, you'll never know if you would make the same decisions.

Sorry, but that is not accurate. PM haircut is the MOST leverage a BD can offer. Most Prime Brokers offer less for naked short puts and calls, especially for cash settled indexes. Since a risk manager, in general, will not accept securities that will cause a risk call, they might block the...

    lightspeed v/s Interactive brokers.

You are being charged a IB exposure fee. That means a 30% move would cause a loss greater than your account value. You should check with L/S. They will have house rules imposed by their clearing firm, Wedbush. You might have to cut back to move your account. It might not pass risk.
