Problems trading futures in IRA accounts at IB?

It is not an issue for my IB clients at this time. They mostly trade equities and options.

I can't. I can only relay what I have been told. I have no agenda here to make this up.

Problems trading futures in IRA accounts at IB?

I just spoke to IB support. The IRA/Futures issue was a short term, back end issue, that should be resolved early this week. It is not a permanent change. Blocks of accounts will be resolved as soon as today.

Problems trading futures in IRA accounts at IB?

I'm going to open an account though uDirect IRA Services next week. Not because of the change at IB, but because I want to move my futures business to FC Stone, where most of my customer's futures accounts are. They can't take Roth IRAs directly.

Problems trading futures in IRA accounts at IB?

The custodial "self-directed" IRA route is widely accepted because the FCM or Prime Broker does not have to do any of the IRA compliance.

Due diligence for chosing a safe prop firm

If they are a hedge fund, they will not ask for capital from you to trade. You will trade with investor capital and you will be an employee. A hedge fund typically is not a registered broker dealer.

Due diligence for chosing a safe prop firm

I think this is very important. Too many trader here only talk about "the deal", and ignore that they are getting into business with a regulated firm. To me, if you choose a prop firm, do it for the people involved, not to save a few dollars. Many traders make this decision too lightly, then...

Prop firm vs broker: pros and cons, fixed costs (pro data), etc.

It's not about speed, most of the time. It's about control. It's about access to maker/taker fees or the avoidance of them.

Dealmaker, Each broker is different. We offer institutional customer accounts. We offer Broker Neutral platforms and connect them to DMA routes that we have relationships with. These orders do not go through a dark pool or to a group of market makers. In the end, that should not be the...
