Same sex parenting = screwed up kids

LOL. What a crock. By that reasoning all of us who are 100% heterosexual should be walking around like Clint Eastwood or John Wayne. Excuse me while I spit.

    Trading friends accounts

Yes, there are potentially big problems legally. SEC registration may be required as an RIA depending on how many people are involved. And even if registration is not required in your case, you can still be held liable for holding yourself out as an expert in trading if you lose money in...

Can you really trust a computer to trade for you?

An account at IB (Interactive Brokers) will permit you to set limits, stops and a time to close. Mark them all with an OCA (One Closes All), and you can go about your other work without monitoring the positions. As far as I know, there isn't any platform you can run on your own that you can...

    Why day trade?

Unfortunately, I am not my own boss, and I don't set my own hours. The market rules me, and tells me when to work. And the market is a very, very tough boss. It doesn't let me slide or screw up. Make a mistake and there's no place to hide. No team members to blame. From market...

I've never heard a better definition of Congress and federal regulators.

    How Realistic? $50k account, $500 / day

Maybe it's time to point out that the OP has never responded to all this earth-shattering advice.

WTF "SEC approves plan to curb volatility in stocks"

How right you are, but unfortunately if regulators don't regulate, they have no reason to exist. And regulation pays quite well, as a quick glance at the income levels in counties surrounding D.C. will attest. I'm trying to think of any part of my life that is not now impacted in some way...

    Anyone need a trading platform?

Sounds like you're just trying to do a lean startup by testing for interest before you create anything. Do you even have a product yet? If so, post a demo. Because thus far, your posts don't make your service/product very clear.

The Best Investment Strategy There Is?

The fatal flaw in your strategy is your assumption that you can consistently define a tradable pullback level in a sector that will provide a good return over time. But you can't. Looking at past price action - trading in the rear view mirror - is always easy. But at the hard right edge...

facebook ipo - opinions - play by play - keep it brief

Time for congress to step in and start regulating social media. How about an STT - Social Transaction Tax. You post...you pay.

NASDAQ's disgraceful act involving FB IPO

As frustrating as your situation was, imagine being in the position of funds and brokers that were tossed thousands of shares at the open on Friday, and were unable to verify their fills while the stocked tanked. Yikes! Most were probably filled about 42, then got wacked big time. I was...

NASDAQ's disgraceful act involving FB IPO

Sorry if you took a hit. But...when you stick your hand into the fire and get burnt, it's kinda hard to blame somebody else. Retail traders should never be near an IPO in the first few minutes of trading, much less in an issue like FP.

facebook ipo - opinions - play by play - keep it brief

Never had a trade in my life that was more clearly a safe entry, than when FB had the first pullback this morning to 38.01. I'd never intended to trade the stock, but this was a no-brainer, knowing that it would be supported at that level. Took 1.5 points long and paid for a nice weekend.

System that turns itself off when conditions aren't favorable

Most likely your system is impacted by market volatility, or lack thereof. It isn't unusual. Backtest your system incorporating the VIX. Adjust your entry levels based on the VIX and see what comes up. VIX is a major filter in how I trade, and it may be for you as well.

Easiest way to trade friends and family money?

Just a few says ago on this site you labeled yourself a "noob". And now you're planning to trade money for your family based on some lame backtests? Man, you're really cruising for a big bruising. The first time you suffer a big drawdown...and you will...you'll regret the day you got...

Hollywood and music biz are dead. Judge just ruled IP address is not an identifier.

Having spent 20 years in the film business I can tell you that an assistant gaffer anywhere is not overpaid for the hours they work, and no matter what the value of his watch collection, that's one hell of an excuse for you to support the theft of anything.

Hollywood and music biz are dead. Judge just ruled IP address is not an identifier.

You and others of your ilk seem to forget that behind every pirated film or song there are many thousands of regular folks who are working hard trying to make a living in creating intellectual property. Visit a film set someday and take a look at the people who are putting in 14 hour days on...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Not sure what planet you live on, but on this planet two of the largest cases of fraud in history - Madoff and Stanford - were brought to the attention of the SEC. And ignored by the SEC. It isn't a question of money, it's a question of doing a job responsibly. Giving more money to any...
