    Software Recommendation

I suggest you look into InvestorRT at www.linnsoft.com. I'm a long-time user. Very easy to program and backtest, but very deep in what it can do for you. Great support, just email them with questions. Good luck.

Looking for a Successful Trader for US Equity Strategy

Thanks for the reply, but IMHO, a strategy that has been successful over the past 2 years (if in equities), is suspect going forward. The rising tide that has carried all ships can only rise for so long.

Looking for a Successful Trader for US Equity Strategy

You write that this is a "successful" strategy. By what means do you know that it's successful?

On your future tax filings, put "Self Employed" or "Unemployed" instead of trader.

Intraday Momentum: The First Half-Hour Return Predicts the Last Half-Hour Return

Academic crap. I didn't see a word about slippage or transaction costs.

    Baron's Tight-wire Act

A site that exists based on user generated content is a two-way street. Users provide the content, and the site owner is expected to return something of value. Since Baron deleted-removed-destroyed the valuable section with years of user reviews on books, brokers and software, the quality...

    Sprecher warns about market calm

My feeling is that the low vix is in large part a result of increased money flows into ETFs.

Could profitable trading cease to exist?

There's a good reason why it's called "Climbing the wall of worry." Any profession that's subject to both market forces and regulatory issues is open to potential problems at any time.

Backtesting and Realistic Fills for Stocks

My experience has been that if a retail system is so sensitive to fills as to cause you serious concern for overall profitability, then it may not be a system that is worth pursuing. If in doubt, you're always better off assuming a worst-case-scenario, and planning for it.

    Excel based back-testing formulas

Financially, you're better off not being able to test such a strategy lest you are tempted to engage in it.

New to trading (Sorry if it's not okay to ask).

Excellent advice, because in many cases the biggest loss in trading is opportunity loss; letting all other professional opportunities pass you by while you pursue what is most often an illusive dream. Finding yourself 30 years old with a big hole in your resume and your skills is not a...

Software for market replay and simulation

I'm a long-time user of InvestorRT and highly recommend it. Very powerful but easy-to-learn coding, with good backtesting, playback, trading from charts, etc.

Is trading worth it in my situation?

You can't do both at the same time without seriously detracting from building your career. Which is where your complete focus should be, especially when just starting out. The market will always be here. But your opportunities to get a good start on your career will quickly pass. And in...

    Finding Work after Quitting Daytrading

I'm sorry that you experienced one of the greatest negatives of pursuing a trading career, and that is 'opportunity loss'. How could you have made better use of the time. It really doesn't do a lot of good to look back with regret. There's no upside in that. Everyone has regrets...

If you could go back in time to when you were a new trader

That's a good question. I'd reply that caution is intellectual, but fear is emotional. The former is rational, the latter is irrational.

If you could go back in time to when you were a new trader

I would not let fear control me to the extent that it did. Caution is good. Fear is not.
