Speaking In Code Part 1: The Female Perspective on Life in Technology

And I submit that a couple decades from now, when AI machines have made coders as relevant as travel agents, all this stuff about male and female will seem rather quaint.

Speaking In Code Part 1: The Female Perspective on Life in Technology

I understand your point. But on the other hand...would you rather see male coders competing for their jobs with other females, or with machines? Which is overall the greater employment issue in every industry? Discrimination or mechanization?

The simplest structure for collective investments

You'll know when you get there. Unless you are already highly successful, have a long track record, and treat your financial relationships on a strictly professional level with full disclosure from everyone...don't do it. It isn't worth it. Trading is risky even under the best...

Rules of thumb - trading eod system at intraday price?

It is very natural for a new trader to want to micromanage a system, no matter what the timeframe. So don't feel alone in your struggle with this issue. However...this is one of those areas that you really must master before moving on. If your system sells at the close, then sell at the damn...

Rules of thumb - trading eod system at intraday price?

I traded roughly the same strategy for 10 years, and there are a couple pitfalls that you are falling into. (1). EOD data, when trying to buy lows, can be suspect. Daily data can vary depending on the vendor. The point here is, the lows you've seen in backtesting may not have been...

Rules of thumb - trading eod system at intraday price?

Trying to improve a good EOD system by involving yourself intraday is simply going to negate the statistical probabilities of the system and cause you frustration. Set your price targets and let it run. That's been my experience.

Today's 3 charts of BAC / not same

It isn't unusual for daily lows on equities to display different prices depending on the data vendor or broker. That's also why backtesting equity strategies based on daily lows can be very problematic. I know, because I wasted a good part of my life chasing daily-low equity strategies until...

    Questions About Being A Trader

Yes, the big problem with being young and inexperienced is that you don't know what you don't know. That's not a sin. It's part of growing up. But the sin is not taking advantage of the experience of others who've already walked the path. So credit goes to the OP for at least asking.

    Questions About Being A Trader

You're missing a very important consideration in thinking about your future. Following only a trading path, you're losses can be greater than financial. You can easily experience what we call "opportunity loss". It's very easy to blow 5-10 years sitting at a trading desk, chasing a dream and...

This "escort" makes $1000 an hour, the escort indicator...wallstreet is booming again

You're right about that! I'm not sure that 'Whore' and 'Credibility' work well together in the same sentence.

    Selling naked puts option strategy

Yikes! You're twisting yourself up all in knots and complexity just to pick up a few pennies. And if you're short puts and the stock really tanks - which can and will happen over time - then you'll wish you never got involved in this lame strategy.

house flippers seeing RECORD RETURNS, THE bubble is BACK!

These are very misleading numbers in a stupid report. Reporter here is talking about "Gross" profits, which she's taken from tax records of purchases and sales. Gross profit numbers are meaningless in that they don't include the investor's costs of repairs, financing, commissions, etc. etc. etc.

HP 2 in 1 Tablet PC-- Buy or Don't??

I'm glad to have this opportunity to diss HP. I've suffered through many HP devices. PCs, laptops, printers. Hated them all. Clunky hardware and terrible software. And if Carly Fiorina should ever appear on a ballot - which seems likely - I'll be glad to vote against her just because...

    How is financial news regulated?

There are thousands of pages of case law on the subject. Many of the most important in this area would involve private/personal versus commercial speech. Drawing that line in terms of financial news/opinion keeps many expensive law firms in business.

    How is financial news regulated?

You're confusing news and opinion. They're very different things in the eyes of the SEC, FCC and FTC.

Finally, Google launches cell phone service, goodbye VZ, ATT, TMUS and sprint....

I ran into this company a few weeks ago when I was searching for some way to enable an old phone for emergency use. $5.00 a month for 100 minutes. (This post isn't spam. Just a suggestion if you want a cheap second second phone.) http://www.byowireless.com/

    Trading algorithm stopped working(?)

Occam's Razor would have us looking for the simplest explanation. A quick glance at the S&P brings up the possibility that your system was supported by a powerful bull market that's now become range bound. The market dynamics the past few months simply are not what they were for the...
