Quick reference for real trading profit. Tips that work

The most profitable strategy is very often the inverse of what your intuition wouid lead you to believe. If trading was as easy as buying or selling counter to a trend, we'd all be out sailing.

    Actively manage 401K using indicators

Look for deviations from an MA, as opposed to letting MA direction guide you. What happens when price deviates from a rising, or falling MA? And by what percentage may it signal a statistically profitable entry? On what instruments? In what timeframe? And what about setting stops...

    Actively manage 401K using indicators

There is no magic in indicators. They are all simply derivative of price. You're taking your first baby steps on a very long and difficult path. Don't expect much, and don't get aggressive until you have a couple PROFITABLE years under your belt. And you can always give your ex a call and...

Dividends, reinvested, ARE growth. And over time they're a great physical and psychological protection against market volatility. If the OP is going to take risk by being in the market, then he should be paid for taking the risk. The OP is on the right track. The challenge is to stick with...

New to options: hope you can help me with my first trade

Here's the problem with shorting puts, which is so often ignored by those new to the strategy. Today, you might be ready, willing and able to take on the stock, so you sell the puts for a few dollars of premie. Cool. Easy money. Worst case, you own the stock. But a month from now you're...

New to options: hope you can help me with my first trade

If you are selling 10 cash-secured puts - and they should be cash-secured for your own safety - then you would be taking on 120K in Apple stock. What is your purpose in selling puts on Apple? If you think the stock has upside, then just buy the stock. Sell puts, and you take on a lot of...

IB customer service can't answer the phone?

I get a big laugh out of the IB apologists on this board. The company is making plenty of money on our deposits, spreads and commissions. Check the founder's net worth if you have any doubt. There is absolutely NO excuse for the company to not be staffed more than fully to pick up the phone.

IB customer service can't answer the phone?

My accounts are significant. But at any account size it is inexcusable for a firm the size of IB.

IB customer service can't answer the phone?

What the hell is wrong with this company? I've been with them for years, and the past week I wait on hold for over 5 minutes each call for ANYONE to pick up. Absolutely inexcusable.
