IB's web trader lastest version keep timeout on session

Sadly I'm forced to use web trader at work and this happens all the time and has for some time. It doesn't seem to be a fixed timeout value but random. There are days when I have to re-login 3 times and others where it stays connected all day.

Open source Auto Trading for IB TWS

I'm having a heck of a time getting MySQL configured and running correctly on XP (I'm a software guy but not a database guy). When the installer tries to start the service it gives an error. I suspect it's something basic.

ATTN: Expiration day to be moved to friday evening.

I wonder if this will impact Thursday expiry index options like NDX. This always confused me since RUT expires Saturday even though it's also a European settled index. It'd be nice if they were all the same.

    Bitcoin thread anyone?

It still is. Just because one of the money changers halted trading doesn't mean business can't still be transacted. If you and I could agree on a price, I could send you BTC and you could send me USD (or other goods or services) for them all on our own

    Installing TWS to Linux

I've never been in an internet cafe before but I find it hard to believe that they'd allow you to boot their computers with your OS. Those places are a security nightmare as it is.

    Trivial question about naked options

As long as the trade is put on as a spread on one ticket you're covered from the outset.

    Trivial question about naked options

It's a credit spread you're thinking of. The short option is covered by the long option. The margin would be (150-110 - credit) * 100 = $4000 - credit. The margin is generally your max risk. As long as you have at least $4000 you can open the trade.

    Bitcoin thread anyone?

This is no joke. There was a guy on bitcointalk saying he'd cashed out his and his wife's 401Ks to buy BTC. Paid the penalty and everything. Unicorns farting rainbows all over again.

    Bitcoin thread anyone?

LOL The low appears to be 123. Luckily all my coins are mined so I'm unfazed by BTC/USD action.

    Special IP Router

You don't need a hardware router, just subscribe to a VPN. Of course there's no way of knowing if country X has your VPN blocked.

    Bitcoin thread anyone?

It's been breaking through psych levels like they're not there. I'd at least expect some consolidations. I guess drawing some fibos from $20 to the most recent high might be enlightening. 50% would be a $130 target.

    Bitcoin thread anyone?

I'm not planning on converting my BTC to fiat anyway. I'll just hold it as a sort of financial disaster hedge.

    Bitcoin thread anyone?

It's weird how I mined 22 BTC with my cheap little graphics card and it's worth over $4000 now. Word over at bitcointalk is that MtGox is hugely backed up with account verifications now, over 15,000. Every swingin' dick (and his mother) is looking to cash out before it crashes. I can't see...

I was just amplifying (unsuccessfully) what I said earlier. We're in agreement. I was just pointing out a real example where parallel calculations are possible. i.e. a whole option chain

BitCoin - Intellectual Fraud or a Stunning Idea??

Well sure they'll be busting an individual every now and then. But they can't stop the whole thing, especially if it turns us into a nation of felons. Think of income taxes in Italy. Nobody pays income taxes and it's unenforceable beause nobody pays attention to the occasional high-profile...

BitCoin - Intellectual Fraud or a Stunning Idea??

All they can do to "ban" BTC is to shut down the exchanges and stores that accept them. That only stops the centralized businesses that they can lay their jack boots on. There's no way to stop individuals from exchanging BTC for USD or goods or services in face to face cash transactions.

BitCoin - Intellectual Fraud or a Stunning Idea??

There's a cyberpunk novel called "A Lodging of Wayfaring Men" that parallels what's going on with Bitcoin. It's not the best novel I've read but the author's plot involves the invention of a crypto currency that's gradually adopted by ordinary people. The gubment of course sees it as a danger...
