Today 10/24/2008 is it. The mother of all selloffs

Dood, asking questions like this in a public forum are like putting a lightning rod on your head in a thunder storm. If you're trading these instruments you should already know this information. It's all available on the exchanges' web sites.

    Forex ideas

Dang, looks like I missed out on *that* move. I guess being on the US east coast isn't optimal for trading this pair, is it?

Americans finally learned to become savers?

My friends all called me cheap, but I called it frugal. lol I dole my hard-earned money out very carefully; I think it's an important instinct for surviving the so-called "new retirement" as well as surviving as a full-time trader. On a side note, my office mate is a fellow in his late...

IB trashes account - what would TOS do?

I have a friend who switched from IB to TOS just for this reason (i.e. what happened to the OP) IB does state they'll liquidate stuff immediately to meet margin in the event of assignment. TOS will apparently call you and give you a half a day to straighten things out yourself before taking...

canAutoExecute on TWS API tick events.

When you place an order through the API you can set a flag that tells TWS to execute the order immediately. For stocks this seems to be available all the time. However, when you place option orders like this it won't work. The order will appear on the screen but you still have to click the...

    Alternative to IB

I totally agree. If I get to the point where I feel I need to diversify brokers, I'll go with TOS. I mainly trade options and IB works for me. That said, TOS basically has it all over IB for option risk graphing and IV screening.

I love Interactive Brokers and their customer service thank you

I also have had no problems with IB's customer support. I think there are folks coming to IB from brokers like scottrade and fidelity who expcect to get someone on the horn instantly and have their sweaty little hands held. IB is aimed at experienced traders, not Joe Sixpack.

What's your position in stocks right now?

I stopped trading stocks a while ago (long or short). I only trade options; much easier to manage risk.

Scalping for Profits: Stocks vs. E-mini Futures

People frequently confuse TA with indicators like RSI, CCI, Stochastics, etc. I agree. TA is "Technical Analysis". You analyze price and volume purely on their own activity without regard to the company's financials.

    Late Day Bounce?

ES and YM both threw high volume shooting stars on the 5 minute chart. I'll bet the indices close red.

    Late Day Bounce?

Wow, both YM and ES ran up, tagged the daily pivot and sold off.
