    Anyone Trade Dia?

The high share cost isn't really a drawback because it lowers your commission costs. For instance, IB's rate is $0.005/share for 200 shares or more. If you buy 200 shares of DIA, the commission is only 10 cents. If you trade $1 stocks on the other hand, you'd theoretically need to buy 100...

    Firearm Wanted

You'll probably never have to fire it if the intruder hears the even "louder" sound of the chunk-chunk from the first shell being chambered.

TARP for Automakers - Not Legally Permissible

If Germany currently has any subs, it's possible he's a 35 year old U-Boat commander. If not, he'd have to be pushing 100 by now.

So do lots of other people, except it's wrong.

TARP for Automakers - Not Legally Permissible

You poor, poor deluded people. You've fallen into the trap of believing that the world is a just place. They'll just ignore it and do it anyway because it's a national emergency.

    Conspiracy theories

I'd laugh except that so many people believe these theories. I won't explicitly name the one theory mentioned in the article that especially bothers me since it will cause your thread to spin out of control. The fact that this particular theory keeps coming up and people believe it scares me...

    Firearm Wanted

If you're in an urban area, it sounds like the last thing you need is a handgun anyway. A Mossberg 500 with an 18 1/2" barrel and some tactical 00 buckshot is much safer - for you and your neighbors.

Can't you just go to the store and buy one?

    What, precisely, is a 'depression?'

Please, no Ronald Reagan quotes *gag*

    What, precisely, is a 'depression?'

There seems to be an agreed-upon set of measurements that can be used to define "recession". I think the term "depression" is more of a lay term, rather than proper economical term. I recall an anecdote where a judge was asked what pornography was. He couldn't say with any precision what it...

    Pair Trading Strategy Journal

Hey jonny, I did a little research on my own about pairs trading and ended up finding a bunch of references to "cointegration". Earlier in this thread someone else brought this up as well. Do you use cointegration for choosing pairs, or something else (i.e. correlation)?

    So much for Global Warming

As I said, I don't know one way or the other. You've chosen to believe that it's mainly human activity and I'm inclined to agree to some extent. I'm simply keeping an open mind. I'm willing to admit that humans, even the smartest ones, don't have all the answers.

    So much for Global Warming

Man, "new religion" is right. I can't say if I believe global warming is caused by human activity or not. I'm trained as a scientist and that's made me a natural skeptic about most everything. When I expressed doubts about the science behind this to one of my (almost former) friends he...

Bank Failure / Safe Deposit Boxes

My dad had a safe installed in the concrete floor of the house I grew up in. There are safes that are actually designed for this application. Unless someone is going through your house with a metal detector, it's fairly easy to hide. BTW, didn't the feds go through safe deposit boxes...

    Eur/usd

I've given up trying to guess direction based on fundies. It just seems like smoke and mirrors to me. Discussing the relative strengths of various economies is like discussing politics or religion. I just take breakouts and let 'em run as long as they want.

    Eur/usd

It depends. What were the reasons you're short? What's your stop? What's your target area?
