EBAY Changes Feedback System- Sales about to Plummet?

EBAY's support, or LACK OF SUPPORT, is a huge, HUGE problem. Getting thru to communicate a problem and then GETTING A RESPONSE is a huge multi-week undertaking. BEEN THERE, DONE THAT. Hey, I just had a thought ! Why is there no viable Ebay COMPETITOR ? Reason: welcome to the communistic...

Trade Station Data Problems today 5/6/08?

Comments like this indicate only one thing: INCONSISTENT DATA SERVERS. This very same problem existed with the old Lycos Quote.com service. We were constantly fighting to find a reliable server. Finally, some sharp programmer built a piece of software to allow for automatic switching to a...

Trade Station Data Problems today 5/6/08?

What's wrong with these guys ? If they would fix their data reliability, they would be on top of the retail autotrading world. Instead, it looks like Ninja is going to unseat them very shortly.

    REDI+ API - Questions

Hmmmmm.....interestingly, the same comment can be applied to: 1) Interactive Broker's API 2) Sterling's API 3) Genesis's Laser API Anyone see a pattern here ? (i.e. retail or prop API traders are screwed....only the big boys get the good stuff.)

EBAY Changes Feedback System- Sales about to Plummet?

Who exactly made that poor decision and judgement ? Good business is all about good judgement.

Algo traders; How do you describe what you do to friends?

tell them you're a "Quant". Sounds impressive, then send them to Wilmott Forum and that will impress em even more !

Why is IB's time 5 seconds behind the official time?

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT: 1) Used that server before. 2) Fooled around with polling before. IT STILL DOES NOT WORK RELIABLY. The W32TIME api is buggy....and the lack of technical documentation on it is the big "tell". No one at MSFT has looked at it in YEARS.

Why is IB's time 5 seconds behind the official time?

or the fact that like me, they cannot find any reliable NTP servers as well. Today, I'm off a whopping 30 seconds. Some days I'm "spot on". My current server is: 2.us.pool.ntp.org Someone on the NinjaTrader forums suggested the real problem lies with Microsoft's W32TIME api...which is the...

    SWIM - SEC investigation

Let me add to that the fact that SWIM's platform is Java-based and now look at what's happening to the stock price of JAVA. Couple that with an announcement by the JCP that the programming language Java will NOT be supporting dual/quad core processors until 2010 at the earliest, and I hear the...

    Sterling API Developer Thread

Oh, I just love these kind of posts. Guess what ? Similar posts have been showing up for years now on the Interactive Broker's API forum. It seems as though ALL OF THESE VENDORS HAVE POOR, POOR API SUPPORT. The programmers are learning only by TRIAL AND ERROR.....many errors ! I still can't...

What the heck are you talking about ? 1) There is only ONE post of that indicator in this entire forum. 2) There are no valid references in a google search other than that post. Please point to the research/background into the development of this indicator. I'm not saying it's invalid, but I...

    BioComp Dakota with Swamp Technology

This technology is dead. The professors who worked on the original research of this do not respond to questions. The website that supports the research for this technology is old and out-of-date. Deadware.

    Long live Seth Tobias R.I.P

SO, Seth was dumb and did not know the imminent dangerous situation of the combination of a pool of water and a powerful sleep inducing drug...He killed himself then ? Or was there someone "near by" to "help" him into the water ?

OpenQuant + AmiBroker: my recipe for building robust Automated Trading Systems

I would say that great care must be taken with any dotnet solution regarding performance in a realtime, autotrading environment. With C/C++ you can be sloppy and it won't hurt much. The good news is that the processors are getting faster. The bad news is no one is really taking advantage of...

    Need Quant w/Options experience

No, no you are not. See my prior post. Options backtesting is tough stuff.....because of the data quality and lack of availability. It might be better to generate your own synthetic options time series with an options pricing model and program in some "jitter".

Why is IB's time 5 seconds behind the official time?

I'm completely with you on this. I had a post on the Ninja forum asking for RELIABLE NTP servers. Every server I've tried has been off by a few seconds....and I "sync" every hour. What do I have to do to get Win/XP to tell me the correct time ? It's totally amazing that in this day and age...

    Need Quant w/Options experience

Programming largely irrelevant for Options backtesting. It's all about the price DATA....largely unavailable or mediocre at best. So a perfect program won't be worth anything if the historic data is crap.

    Sterling API Developer Thread

Bingo. I tested a COM interface with the IB API and it really, really sucked-up CPU and it was slow as heck. If you can get the callbacks to work properly, a DLL interface will always be faster.
