    Excel Automation

    1. Nope...worksheet protection is the best option. Shutting down edit mode is another way. 3. Agreed. Excel worksheet functions are very fast. Try using WorksheetFunction.CountBlank over an entire worksheet to see if the worksheet is empty. VBA using a loop is like molasses comparatively...

    Excel Automation

    1) You must shutoff the GUI in Excel for it to work reliably in a realtime data environment. I found few people who know how to do that. Entering data into a cell by hand is a "no-no". 2) Excel is very sensitive when ActiveX components are being referenced and used (which is often the case for...

    Should I quit?

More importantly, especially for day trading: HOW MUCH ARE YOU GOING TO RISK PER DAY ? IOW: What are your "caps","limits","threshholds" ? I met a great trader that was winning on average about $1000-$1500 per day in index futures. However, he started this year off disasterously.....with HUGE...

Anyone ever try John Carter's (Mastering the Trade) strategies?

None of her "stuff" ever worked after extensive backtesting. One trader I knew, lost his entire account trying her stuff live.

Ameritrade Frozen Again-2 Days In A Row

Omigosh....this trading business has gotten so....sleazy. At this point, I'm not sure which is worse: retail trading ...or prop trading. Both horrible businesses right now.

Google Finance follows Yahoo: real time datafeed

No, there is a "realtime" setting on the standard quote pages. The problem is: I'm not sure how they are reporting the realtime prices...."sampled", "slightly delayed", etc. It does NOT appear to be truly realtime.
