    Excel vs TradeStation

After reviewing that spaghetti chart, my head hurt for hours ! It's way too much.

    Excel vs TradeStation

Again, sorry to disagree. Yes, Tradestation has it's weaknesses...and the debugger or lack thereof is one of them. Also, the lack of Case logic statements.....which was lacking in TS2000i...forcing a ton of nested if-then-else statements....ugh ! However, they've added Case in TS8 from what I...

    Using both tradestation and X-Trader

I've heard this often lately. Why hasn't TS beefed-up their data server farm ? If this is not feasible, why don't they employe a sampling technique like IB then ?

    Using both tradestation and X-Trader

XTrader has an API. If you are really serious, why not pay someone to program your indicators and charts for you ? Getting signals from one datafeed and placing orders into another datafeed is dangerous business IMHO. Especially for short-term trading and especially scalping.

    Need a better prop firm

Advice: Read some good books. Extensive research by Keith Fitschen (Developing Trading Systems) indicates that COUNTER TREND trading models work intraday compared to TREND FOLLOWING. Again, this is not EVERY DAY, but that is the tendency. If you want to win in this game, you must go with the...

Keystone Trading - SCAM or not?

Sorry GT, but the above sounds SOOOO socialistic. I've actually been a proponent for the demise of the SEC....the ones who brought us the obsolete PDT Ruling, and now the naked shorting rules. They're just terrible. Prop trading is near the penultimate capitalistic endeavor....it's sad to see...

Genesis-based prop firm with low comissions.

How can they be profitable at that rate ? How can there be such a drastic difference in rates between 2 competing firms ? I mean look at the situation with FedEx vs. UPS.....wouldn't it be crazy if one could deliver a package for $1 and the other for $10 ? This whole thing of prop rates and...

Keystone Trading - SCAM or not?

The latter provides them with a low risk income; the deposit can be garnished only if the trader is lousy. [B] They file/issue a 1099 for each trader then ? If so, what really interesting is the ESTIMATED TAX payments. Given the risk, a trader could go from a hugely profitable quarter, to...

Hmmm...similar to a deposit, wouldn't you say ? What happens if you are NOT accepted after spending the $4k on the training ?

    New Short Rules

First it was the pattern day trading ruling, and now this. Anyone get the feeling that the SEC is against day trading stocks ? It looks like forex, futures and options will be the only viable day trading vehicles. Day trading stocks will be left to the elite wallstreet crowd only.

    Latest Prop Firm Scam

I've witnessed this with several firms recently: No matter what amount of experience you have, they REQUIRE you to take their "training course" at a cost of several thousand dollars. After that, they "let" you trade the firm's capital. Of course, you know the rest of the story. If you start to...

Dunno, but I can you this, the LAWYERS are making out like bandits from both sides....for the banks and for the home owners about to be tossed. It's a freakin WINDFALL for them. http://www.avoidforeclosurestoday.com/CBS47_update.htm

    Excel Automation

It's only a problem if you are getting real-time Level 1 quotes or even time-and-sales data. Excel's event handling mechanism is too slow for fast moving stocks or index futures for instance. Part of the problem is that Excel's internal architecture is single-threaded. Most trading platforms are...

    Excel Automation

Absolutely NOT....what I meant is that using WorksheetFunctions within VBA show terrific performance...compared to emulating them using raw VBA. Tip: Avoid using in-cell formulas and just use the worksheet for output/display. Do all calcs in VBA. That's what's great about RTD vs. DDE. With the...
